Really Not what I expected

I’d heard such great things about this place I couldn’t wait to get there. The springs were nice and that’s about it. The lakes are empty there’s a pretty foul smell I’m sure is spring related. The parks gone that my kid was really looking forward to. Just not worth the time or money. Go to red rock canyon instead.

It’s okay..

Away from the hustle and bustle of town it’s quiet and remote. That’s about it though.. there’s a couple of sites for camping all entirely too close to each other. The parking lot is bigger than the grass areas you have to work with. It’s a great spot to fish though catfish largemouth and crappie being the usuals. Great place to bring a boat you’ll need it to see most of the lake. There are much better places within 30 minutes of here.

Not a camping destination

It good for day use and fishing if you can find a spot to access the water.

Their system is awful the views are great.

Get there at the right time which is checkout time. It doesn’t matter if the site is empty check it’s probably paid for. With that said if you manage to get a spot it’s going to be a nice stay. Huge spots close to the water and lots of wildlife it’s hard to believe the city isn’t far away.

Little Niagara

This spot is a local favorite. Don’t expect to be alone. However the natural spring water is crystal clear and ice cold. The sometimes fast flowing creek offers several beautiful waterfalls you can perch up on and forget about the summer sun. Not to mention within a short driving distance is the lake of the arbuckles and davis Oklahoma. Home of Turner falls. It’s a must see for the state of Oklahoma.

Just what I was looking for.

The road in was a little bumpy take it slow and you’ll be fine. Just on the right is a clearing you can’t miss next to the Kiamichi River along side pigeon creek. You’re surrounded by trees, moss and running blue mountain spring water. What’s not to love? The terrain is rocky so use a thick mat or hammock but you will love it.

First to Review
Central state park lake Arcadia

All in all it was great. Shaded spot fire pit, leftover firewood, clean, electricity, and plenty of room. However the red ant hills made it difficult to find a spot for our tent and it was difficult to get a spot in general with their first come first serve rules.
