I love it here, great educational and heloful Rangers.
there are great caves, bouldering, and cave paintings.
just off trans mountain so can be pretty busy. be sure to bring cash to pay for your visit.. and bring lots of water! it’s hot in El Paso and easy to get dehydrated.
mammoth rock hike has great views of The Valley below.
also great to take photos at!
you can stay at the park in their suites, or hook up campers/rvs.. Park is beautiful and great for kids.
wetlands area and small creek circling the property were a hit with the kids!
short drive to the lake where there is great fishing, large enough to allow small boats.
I’ve been going for years on end. The best times are when the creeks are running.. they can get decently deep and are great fun. It’s a little of the beaten path and the spots are no more than open areas.. it gets busy during the holiday times. But it’s just a few minutes to the lakes. The road is barely able to fit two vehicles so there are times you have to make a close pass due to the ledges. Over all beautiful campground.. a bit far from any stores so come prepared.
Lakes are fun, they stock regularly and it’s a nice time.
It’s a few minutes from the lake but it’s nice and open.. both times we’ve gone it’s had quite a few people but beyond being able to hear them we weren’t running into each other. Great for tents, or campers.. They have metal fire rings to help which was nice.
Only drawback was one time people were running generators which were pretty loud.. but we’d still go back!
