The campground was really small and almost all of the trees looked like they were cut down. The campground host wasn't very friendly towards my friends when they came to visit. I wouldn't recommend this site unless you have no other choice. It does have a bathroom so that's a plus.
This campsite was nice but it was very open with no tree cover and lots of people in the middle of the summer. We woke up in the morning to the bright sun beating down on our tent and the sound of dump trucks emptying the big metal bear dumpsters at 7 am. It's nice that you can reserve this ahead of time, but I would recommend a different campsite over this one if it is possible for you.
I got to Colter Bay village around noon and they had campsites still available, so we got one and put our yellow tag on our post right away. We left for the day and came back just after 8 pm and someone else was all set up in our spot and our yellow tag was gone. We had to drive around to find a place that was open to try and solve this issue because the campground was completely full and we would have no where to stay. A security guard came right away and was so friendly and helped us. We ended up sharing a campsite with the woman who accidentally got booked there. It was a simple human error and I ended up getting a refund. I appreciated the nice staff and the friendly campers a lot.
Besides that, this site is awesome. There is a ton to do within walking distance and tons of amenities offered. Our camp site was pretty big and had lots of trees around it, providing some nice shade in the morning. Apparently bears are common in this area, so locking up your food in the bear containers provided at each campsite is a must. We didn't encounter any bears and slept great. Went on a 2 mile walk on the lake shoreline trail and visited the visitor center for a while. Such a nice time!
This campground was awesome. It has a ton of trees so you actually get some privacy from all the people in Yellowstone mid-summer. Every one is pretty quiet once the sun goes down and everyone has their camp fires lit. The trees in the campsite make for a perfect hammock session 😌 they also provide free showers for campers! Nice hot shower during the middle of our trip. They also had laundry, stores, fuel and other things, pretty much anything you'd need. Definitely recommend this site!
a nice quiet campsite on top of muddy mountain. didnt see many people around and had a nice view from our campsite. definitely recommend!
A gorgeous area but there are not many places to camp anymore! Hells half acre is mostly fenced off.
great local spot with a view just down the road and some nice hiking trails
We thought about camping at Leigh Creek campground, but on the same road there is a bunch of free campsites more upland from the creek and have beautiful views of ten sleep canyon. we camped right in the middle of the canyon and woke up to unforgettable views in the morning.
The campground was very crowded on a saturday night. everyone had all of their lights on from their RVs until after 11 pm. but it was nice that this KOA had showers, much needed after a long day of hiking around during a hot day badlands NP. and all the people around made it feel a little bit safer. i had a nice shady spot for my tent under a tree.
From the lodgepole campground, you can see beautiful views on top of Muddy Mountain. and the campsite was really cheap! will definitely be back there
So beautiful next to the lake and you can rent kayaks or paddle boards (and other things!) from Alcova resort. My friends and I had fun kayaking and jumping into the lake afterwards.
Camped on a pull off on Fremont Canyon road near a climb we wanted to do the next morning. We were nestled in between some sage brush and junipers and about a 10 minute hike down the side of a cliff was a beautiful river and our climbing spot. Many fisherman would visit thhroughout the day and wade in the river looking to get rainbow trout. Beautiful remote spot!
