Long weekend with some of the grandkids

This campground is only about an hour and a half from our homes and we have been coming here off and on the last 40 years. The improvements that have been made to this facility over the year or I'm simply amazing. The staff was friendly courteous and helpful ways bath house and showers were clean up-to-date and conveniently located swimming pool and playground area organized and safely running.

First camp at Grand Lake

The Tuesday after memorial Day I decided I wanted to go to Eastern Oklahoma most of the state parks were still booked up, but I found a spot at Grand Lake below the dam. The pull through side along the river was level and offered a beautiful side of the river and the spillway with full hookups. The park was empty except for the camp host and one other camper. We found the location to be great with plenty of wildlife, including muskrats, turkey and deer close by. We were literally 200 yards from an 18-hole golf course.

Relaxing time

We reserve two sites side by side in the beaver cove campground. The sites are on a slight decline but pull through and we were able to make them level with our blocks. The sides have enough room for the grandkids to roam around it besides for electric and water only but offered a view of the lake and we're close by a swim area. The trees at the sides provided adequate shade for the afternoon sun and the campground offered boat ramps couple of swim areas and on-site store for gas and supplies including and after hours vending machine with propane tanks and charcoal and s'mores supplies. The dump station provided slots for three RVs at one time and well thought out. The crap ground offers hiking bicycle and horse trails that cover a large area. Wildlife was abundant with plenty of deer and Canadian geese and squirrels. The campgrounds offer some annual sites for long-term visits but there is a waiting list to be on that.

Early spring camping

Booked three nights as we were enjoying the outlaw racing nearby. Concrete pads summer very level especially in the older portion the newer edition is a little more rolling hills nice facilities showers Wi-Fi was great.would come back

Spring break camp out with the grandkids

Lake McMurtry West is a small campground with nearly level sites. Sites offer electricity and water. Make sure to have a 50 ft water hose as the water spouts are on the opposite side of most camper locations.

Weekend roadtrip

Came over to Amarillo for the weekend to see the sights, the staff are very friendly and helpful. While the campground is close to an airport and train track, I didn't have a problem. Overall, a great base for a weekend excursion. They offer clean bathrooms and showers, a shuttle to the Big Texan steakhouse and a gift shop. WiFi is limited but cell signal is great.

Quite basecamp

Got into the park after 5pm, so went to my site as office was closed till 6. Discovered sites had no water spigot, so filled up by the office. Sites are fairly flat clay soil, so I didn't have to level much. A thunderstorm didn't create any driving issues. Campground is among tall trees, but I didn't have any issues.

Great lake and campsite

Between Google maps and poor signage, I did finally find the site. Honor system on check in

First trip in my travel trailer

Wanted a short trip to learn all the things about my new trailer. Site 21 is lake side with a level paved site. Hookups are close by. Some shade, but a nice view of the lake. Came on labor day as campground was emptying. Plenty of space to relax.

Trying out my pickup bed tent

The campsite was right on the lake, with a nice evening breeze and trees to shade from the sun. Camp host is helpful and the site clean.
