Avery Creek Roadside Camping

Great location off of easy gravel road. Limited spots available. Camping locations marked with signs. Fire pit, parking spot and tent pad at each location.

Camping with llamas

This is a private campsite where you can feed and camp with llamas. There are about 40 llamas to enjoy. The owners are friendly and helpful. There are a couple outhouses, picnic tables, fire pits and grills. There are no electric or water hookups. There is limited camping spots but you are spread out from others which is nice. We were the only ones there when we camped. You book this location through their Facebook page llamaland Ranch. The price was $35 a night plus service fees of around $7.75. Firewood is available for a fee also.

Peaceful location off Kelbaker Rd

This is a secluded spot. We were the only ones camping in the area when we were there. No amenities except rock fire ring. Close to a highway so mild traffic noise. Surrounded by large boulders and mountains. No trees for shade. Camped here mid June and temps low 90’s but comfortable when sun goes down. Drove in fine with my ProMaster onto gravel road off of paved road. Some areas have softer sand so please check the area on foot if coming in after dark.

Amazing View

The view at this campsite is absolutely beautiful!

Campsite did have a rock fire ring but no other amenities. There is a cliff right next to the site so be careful here with young children. Sunset was beautiful as well. Temp was cool enough at night that no air conditioning was needed. We also had two bars of Verizon here.

Our drive to this location made me very nervous. We came from the Four Corners region and our turn off to get to this spot was on a gravel road. Gravel roads don’t bother me but we were on the gravel for over an hour and most of it was washboard. The closer you got to this location the narrower the road became and the more red sand you drive through. We are in a Ram ProMaster and made it fine without four wheel drive but I was so worried about getting stuck and four wheel drive was recommended per a sign. Definitely not a location for an RV our travel trailer from the route we took in.

Our next stop is Bryce Canyon NP and I hope the drive out is better.

Quick one night camping location

This was a great location to stay for the night. There are several of these rest stops along this highway. One night only parking is allowed.

There are restrooms, picnic tables, grill, beautiful sunset/sunrise, dump station, water spigots, trash cans, and vending machines. Plenty of room for the kids to run around also.

This is located right off the highway so you will have highway noise at night. We used a fan but could still hear some noise. It doesn’t bother us.

Overnight camping allows parking only on the designated road, no parking in the grass. There were several other cars/campervans/RVs parked overnight when we were there.

Definitely a great spot for a quick overnight.
