Family of 4 + 2 English Bulldogs Traveling in Our Newmar Ventana

Good for a Short Stay

We are a full-time traveling family with 2 kids (8 & 13) and 2 English Bulldogs. We have a Class A motorhome and flat tow a Jeep. We spent 2 nights at Moose River in Vermont. We knew ahead of time that their site said they don't cater to kids; however, we felt like we had eyes on us the entire time and not just because we had kids with us. The owners were certainly nice enough, but there were more rules of "what not to do" then there was a hospitable welcome. We didn't spend much time at the campground overall and tried to stay out exploring. We did stay in a level pull thru site with full hookups. We would've liked to have stayed on the water, but the available sites there did not offer 50amp.

If you are not traveling with kids and are simply looking for a clean place to camp, you may really enjoy the site.

Inside tip! Take the 30 minute or so drive to East Corinth to view the little town Beetlejuice was filmed in! Also, be sure to drive across the street to the top of Dog Mountain.

Can't Wait to Go Back! MUST Stay Here!

We are a full-time traveling family (2 kids - 8 & 13) and 2 English Bulldogs. We have a Class A motorhome and flat tow a Jeep. We stayed here in June for 11 nights in site B6 and loved it! Owners Matt & Jamie are wonderful and we left feeling like we had stayed at a friend's place. Our site was great because we could see the kids at the playground and the pool, but there were many great sites a bit more tucked away as well. The kids also loved the Saturday night movie they would play on the big screen as well as the movie rental options available for personal use while there. We did not use the ATV trails that are directly off the campground, but they were great! We did, however, rent an ATV from Northwoods Outfitters in Greenville (just 20 minutes away) and it was our favorite activity yet!

The campground is within 20 minutes drive or so to Hannaford grocery and there is a great little market, Whitney's Market, even closer in Guilford. Greenville is also about 20 minutes away and is a wonderful little town to visit with great restaurants and boating/ATVing options.

Highly recommend visiting Central Maine and definitely stay at Balsam Woods!

Great One Night Stop - Would Have Stayed Longer!

We scheduled a pull through for 1 night last minute due to an unexpected change in plans. We are a full-time traveling family (2 kids - 8 & 13) and 2 English Bulldogs. We have a Class A motorhome and flat tow a Jeep. The campground was beautiful and easy to get in and out of. The sites were level and great size with nice spacing in between. The location was nice too! We did head over to the casino briefly and enjoyed that. We also took a drive to the University of Syracuse to tour the campus. Clean and wonderful park. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent Customer Service/Great Location/Loved It!

We just spent a full week at the North Pole Resorts the last week of May and through the Memorial Day Weekend. We are full-time travelers with a 40' Class A motorhome, flat tow a Jeep, have 2 kids (ages 8 & 13), and 2 English Bulldogs. We loved pulling in the week before the holiday weekend because there was hardly anyone else at the campground or in the area just yet. It does get packed over the holiday weekend, but was still very enjoyable and quiet at night. We were there right at the start of the season for them. ***Fair warning - Be sure to turn in by the North Pole Lodge Store and Mini Golf to register. We missed it and went past.*** We stayed in premium site 11 in the resort section and loved it. There was plenty of grassy room for the dogs to go out and we had a little cover over our picnic table. The kids enjoyed the arcade and playground being right there. We loved the store as it is one of the best we've seen yet & very well stocked. The location to area attractions was ideal as well. Lake Placid is maybe 20 minutes down the road and you can get groceries and have good restaurant choices too. Highly suggest the 45 minute drive to Ausable Chasm as well as the very short drive to the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge. Another favorite activity was pulling off the road to explore the hiking & fishing. Quarry Pool Pond was our fave! Would absolutely be back!

Great Location! Great Staff! Best in Area

We stayed in site A42 for 10 nights in mid May and it was a great experience. We are full-time, have a 40' Class A motorhome, flat tow a Jeep, have 2 kids, and have 2 dogs. The site itself was wonderful. It was a large pull thru, nice & level and had plenty of comfortable space between it and the neighboring sites. It had a nice concrete patio, beautiful built-in fire ring, and and great solid patio furniture. We didn't even have to bring out any of our outdoor rugs or furniture.

As for the location, it was ideal! It took maybe 15-20 minutes to get to the falls. There were great eating options in Niagara (15 minutes out) and even right outside of the campground at Adrian's Custard & Beef. There is a grocery on Grand Island as well that takes 5 minutes to get to. Wal-Mart and all other stores you could need are within 15-20 minutes.

The kids loved it too! There is a nice playground, fishing, bikes to rent, a jump pad, basketball goal, arcade, and a pool for summer. There is also a place next door for go karts, arcade, and mini golf.

We explored the area quite a bit and this is by far the best campground on the US side to see the falls. Would definitely recommend.

Absolute Gem! Great Owners

We are full-time in a 40' class A with our 2 kids & 2 English Bulldogs and this campground is one of our favorites yet! John, the owner, greeted us when we entered and we left feeling like old friends. He and his wife do a phenomenal job with the upkeep of the campground. We loved how simple it was (no pool or other big amenities) and was still so incredible. We stayed in site F (definitely snag it if possible) and had a great grassy end just steps from the river. It was too chilly when we visited in May, but would be great kayaking and rafting in the summer right from the campground! We stayed 3 nights and could have definitely stayed much longer. There is a small grocery and restaurants within a mile or so from the campground and nice exploring at Olson Fire Tower and Blackwater Falls not too far as well. Highly recommend!

**Only word of caution** There are areas of steep elevation and grade getting to Parsons. Certainly nothing to stop anyone from feeling comfortable driving there, but you may want to be aware depending on what you're driving. We chose to not tow the Jeep out (wife drove) when leaving to make it a bit easier on the RV.

Don’t Follow GPS! Great Stop

We stayed here for a quick overnight stop. We have a 40’class A and flat tow a Jeep. We use both the RV Garmin 890 & RV Trip Wizard and both had us doing some crazy side roads to get into the KOA. Be sure to use the park’s directions for an easier drive in. Totally fine when we left using their instructions. Very pretty park, nice staff, and great playground for the kids. We stayed on pull thru site 6 and it was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Proximity to Richmond

We’re originally from Richmond and needed a centrally located campground to spend 5 weeks in our class A while taking care of some things in town. (We’re full time travelers in our motorhome.) The location is the best in the Richmond area for a full hookup campground for a large RV. It’s right off I-95 and is mostly good size pull through sites. The kids loved the playground and pool area. The staff was friendly and put on some fun events during the time we were there like mimosas on Mother’s Day and a larger race day event with a band and food trucks. It’s a large campground but was surprisingly quiet. Very convenient to restaurants and shopping. Would certainly recommend for a quick overnight stay or if you need to visit Richmond.

Convenient to Major Local Attractions

We have a 40’ class A and flat tow a Jeep. We stayed in site 203 for 3 nights. While we really enjoyed the campground, this site was not ideal for an RV our size. We weren’t able to put our awnings out or comfortably sit outside. Next time, we’ll see if it’s possible to stay in site 226. Overall, the campground was quiet at night and the kids loved playing with so many other children on the playgrounds. We all loved that Crystal Cave was right on site and enjoyed the guided tour. (Advanced reservations are required.) We also loved the guided tour just down the road at Ruby Falls! We explored Rock City as well. Next time we hope to get tickets to ride the incline railway. We do recommend trying the local Mr. T’s Pizza & Ice Cream. It was great & they deliver right to your site!

Convenient Location/Great Staff

We stayed in site 4 as a one night pull through for our class A. We typically don’t unhook our Jeep tow for one night, but so glad we did here! The staff told us about a great restaurant to check out just a few minutes away in the downtown area, Weidmann’s. It was delicious! Apparently it’s the oldest restaurant in Mississippi and one of the oldest in the US. Downtown is super cute! Definitely go check it out.

The site was great too! We enjoyed a quiet night’s sleep and were nice & level. It was also super convenient to have propane on site right when you pull up for checkin. Would definitely stay here again.

Convenient & Fun!

We made an impromptu one night stop here and it was totally worth it! The resort is right off the interstate with a nice large gas station right next to it. We stayed on March 31 and it was quiet but I can imagine it gets busy in the summer. Our kids loved the lazy river. We stayed in site 202 and it was ideal as we have a class A and flat tow a Jeep and didn’t want to unhook for the one night. The site was a nice level concrete lot. The only downside on this trip was the store was closed for renovations and we did need some supplies. Nothing to ruin a trip though. Would definitely come back!

Quiet & Convenient Services

We stayed a week here and were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the campground. We came here to setup our mail service with Escapees. The services offered here with Escapees are great! This has been the most quiet peaceful nights rest we’ve had at a campground so far. We stayed in site 91 and highly recommend this side of the park. All sites here were very level and we did not have any trees over us. Ours was a pull through site.

Be sure to buy some local Ruby’s honey next door! Delicious! We also had excellent friendly service at the Smokehouse Tavern just down the road.

Convenient Overnight

We stopped in for a quick overnight stay and the location was convenient- which is what we love about KOA- but it wouldn’t be my top choice for a longer stay. The sites are definitely tight and amenities are very basic. We have a class A and flat tow so we needed a pull thru so we wouldn’t have to unhook for the one night. We stayed in site G4. It was tight and sloped on the far back end, but was fine for us. Would’ve been an issue if we did need to unhook for an emergency. Still, would stop here again for an overnight if needed.

GREAT Customer Service & A Super Fun Time!

I'm originally from Nashville and this was a wonderful place to spend the holidays so we could visit family and be in our own "home" still! We stayed for 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year's and shared a buddy site with my dad. I believe it was sites 38 & 39. We have a 40' motorhome and flat tow a Jeep and he has a 5th Wheel and had 2 vehicles there. We all still had plenty of space.

First, let me tell you what I LOVE about Grand Ole RV! The location is ideal. Right off the interstate and very easy to get to downtown as well as closer local restaurants & shopping. The staff is the BEST! Everyone was super friendly & very helpful. Unfortunately, our hot water & furnace unit had to be replaced during our stay, but it couldn't have happened at a better campground as the shower/bathroom area was very clean & nice. We had breakfast at the market a couple of times & it was delicious! The entertainment for NYE was seriously the most fun we've had out in a while. Nothing says Nashville like live country music! We will definitely be staying here again. **Tip, we drove up the road just a couple of minutes to Galbreath's Market (looks like an old gas station) and had the best filet cut on-site for us that we've ever had! Apparently, local country music stars will get their meat here often too.

What you may not love - but totally didn't bother us! This is right off the main road so there can be some traffic noise. Again, didn't bother us. There is also a very active railroad track that runs right along the back - which we actually loved. This isn't a campground that we would choose to stay at all day every day and play with the kids as they don't have a lot of amenities for that. The sites are mostly gravel, and while ours was level, it does get a bit of flooding when it rains. None of this, however, will stop us from being back. And we're pretty picky!

Bottom line, if you're visiting Nashville and want a fun time & excellent customer service in an excellent location, don't pass up Grand Ole RV!

Great for a One Night Stop off I-81

We stayed here for a quick one night stop to break up our trip. It was a super convenient stop right off I-81 and had great truck stops off the exit as well. We have a 40’ class A and flat tow a Jeep. We stayed in back-in site 38. It was a decent site slightly off level, but nothing too crazy. When we stop here again, we’ll book a pull through so we don’t have to unhook the Jeep.

GREAT for Camping With Kids!

We stayed here for 3 nights in August for our little guy’s 8th birthday. It was perfect for kids! The kids loved running off in the open field and playing on the zip line. We loved that we could see them from our site. The birthday boy also loved the outdoor laser tag! Staff was attentive. Our only real drawback was our site was not even close to level. It probably shouldn’t have been available for a 40’+ RV. Still, we would go back…just to a different site location.

Stayed One Night Driving Through

We stayed here for a quick one night while driving through. It was conveniently located off the interstate and quiet. We were able to hookup 50amp electrical and water is shared with your neighbor which was fine for the brief stay. Nice for the price.

Quiet & Great Customer Service

This is a nice quiet campground to enjoy outside of Richmond. We have a Class A and enjoyed the sites facing the lake. We stayed in site 119. Customer service is wonderful! If you have time, take the 15 minute drive or so to Mabel’s for a delicious cheeseburger and some crazy milkshakes! IG @mabelsrva

Absolutely Worth It!

This is a Class A only resort, but if you have a Class A, it’s a must experience! The views are stunning and the customer service is top notch. We spent Thanksgiving week here with our kids and explored the surrounding waterfalls. We all loved it! If you have family wanting to meet up with you, but they don’t have a Class A, they may rent one of the homes and you can park your coach in the driveway with full hookups. The only thing we wish we had realized ahead of time is the mobile propane service comes through once a week and that’s a Friday. We just missed it. Would absolutely stay here again!
