We stayed for Christmas weekend and the park is very well taken care of. There are numerous trails outlined by rocks, and there's a variety of trails to go down to the Caballo Lake reservoir. We stayed in the Palamino Loop which has a nice view of the lake with full RV hookups, but the spots did feel cramped.
We travel with 3 dogs, so they moved me from site 23 to site 27. It was a site with plenty of room for our dog fence. It was in a nice corner of the park with immediate road access.
The RV sites are well placed, the electricity worked well, and the asphalt pad was not level but made leveling easy. The proximity to trails is amazing. Group sites were closed and I worry that this area would be crowded if everything was open. Road noise was significant.
This park has some elements that were fantastic which countered the drawbacks. The hosts were extremely helpful and the park is adjacent to Lincoln National park. I literally walked out of my door and up the road. The only drawback is site size. I'm in a 21.5' TT and drive an F150. There was barely any room left for camping space. I travel with 3 large dogs and space to chill at camp is necessary. For this trip, I was travelling alone but I will try to go back again with the wife and "kids".
The hosts are amazing, the scenery is magical, and most sites are roomy. We stayed at the southern most end of the park so our backs were to the rest of the park.
