Nice, out of the way campsite. 81 sites on Tuttle Creek. Clean restrooms. No showers or drinking water. Near Lone Pine, just off Whitney Portal Road, adjacent to Alabama Hills, so lots of exploring opportunities! Great dark skies for stargazing and photography.
Nicely spaced campsites on the shores of Shoal Bay. Clean sites with easy access for large rigs.
Have been camping here since the lake was established, it has only improved with time.
Could have a few more trash disposal sites and grills (only fire ring grates)
Recent rains resulted in several of the campsites being closed, but there were still spots available on my late arrival. Restrooms and showers were clean and conveniently located. Avenue of the Redwoods is an amazing drive!
I first stayed in this campground in 1975 while on break from collage. 49 years later it is still just a beautiful as I remember, even though they were recovering from some very heavy rains, most all of the campsites were open.
Great location to base out of when exploring the central coast. If you are coming from the south be sure to check that Highway 1 (PCH) is open, otherwise you will have to backtrack inland.
Friendly staff, general store, lots of things to do.
They have had some flood damage, so repairs are going on. Beautiful spot, great trails, showers, general store. Didn't get to see any condors. I'll stay here again. AT&T was acceptable coverage.
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the maintenance going on, once that is complete it's a 5 Star.
Great place to camp, been coming here my entire life and it has changed very little in that time. Boating, fishing, swimming, cabins available, lots of trails to hike. Just minutes from Mt Magazine and the town of Paris. Friendly staff.
As I always do, I ask an associate at the customer service desk if parking was ok, she was very helpful and said that parking overnight was ok. Well at 10:30pm after the store closed at 9:00pm security came and rousted me out. I checked back the next day and a manager said they did not allow overnight stays.
At the mouth of Dog Canyon this is a gem of a campground! Though not a lot of shade so you should plan for that, there are some covered shelters at a few sites. Clean facilities, showers, restrooms. Friendly camp hosts. You do remember to thank your camp hosts, right? Great base camp for exploring White Sands NP even though it’s a bit of a drive. Potable water and dump site available. It can get quite windy… Be sure to check out Alamogordo while you’re there and don’t forget the world’s largest pistachio!
Wonderful, small campground in one of New Mexico’s State Parks. You can fish in the Oasis Pond, kids can play at the playground at this secluded spot. Nice campsites, will fit the larger RVs, water and electric at most sites. Great price, I’d stay here again. Great dark sky for stargazing and photography! Watch your pets, a pack of coyotes came through camp the night I stayed there.
Great spot not too far from Albuquerque, very peaceful and quaint. Friendly staff and dog friendly ( on a leash). Picnic tables, showers, laundry, clean restrooms, all nestled in the pine and fur trees.
Nice campground in a beautiful area on the Gulf Coast. However, if you don’t like the sound of fighter jets then this may not be for you as the campground is directly across from the Naval Air Station at Pensacola. The Blue Angels practice there most Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the air show season. This is a good spot to base out of to explore Pensacola Beach, Ft Pickens. Beautiful sand beaches. Showers, laundry, fire rings, tables, and trees for shade in the heat of the day.
I was here in March 2023 and there were very few people camping. I was exploring the Volcanic Tablelands area so this was the perfect spot.
Clean restrooms (vaults), picnic tables and fire rings. Level campsites were fairly exposed to the wind, but the bluff to the north helps some, lots of room for big RVs, but mostly nothing to separate you from your neighbor.
The campsites on the south side of the river had some grass area, north side was pretty barren.
Wonderful spot just off Wildrose Road as you are headed to the charcoal kilns. Very clean, nice facilities. Space for some medium sized rigs. Tables, restrooms, water and fire pits.
Peaceful, lots of trees and wildlife (watch out for bears). Clean, nice tables and fire pits. Great place to hang out before or after Yosemite. Be sure to check with CalTrans on highway 120 road conditions before planning to cross Tioga Pass, it still had more than 20' of snow in places when I was there in June.
Several of the campsites were closed due to danger of rising water from the Lee Vining Creek, lots of water and snow melt to deal with.
Friendly host!
Nice campsites on either side of a small "meadow" (for lack of a better word). Peaceful, clean, nice tables, fire ring.
Would stay here again and again.
Stayed here on June 4th, 2023 because Pleasent Valley was underwater. The campsite was open despite what it says here (perhaps because PV is closed?).
Nothing special, it was clean and peaceful, very little protection from the wind. Great views of the Sierra.
Campsite is currently closed due to high water on the Owens River. On June 4, 2023 the paved road into the camp was underwater.
I've stayed here before and it's a great place to explore the Chalk Bluff area from.
Homestake Dry Camp is just that, a dry camp. There was a porta-potty (would hate to be the poor guy that has to service it), but no water as the name implies or tables. Lots of rock fire rings and plenty of room for your friends.
This is a great place to stay for getting early morning, late evening and night shots on the Racetrack. The night sky is amazing.
The campsite is past the south end of the playa. It is almost 10 miles south of Teakettle Junction.
(My visit was in Feb. 2020) I drove in from Big Pine, it's not that bad of a drive, if you like rough roads. The drive in is no where nearly as bad as the road to the Racetrack. There are no facilities here, nothing, nada, zip, so be prepared. You are on your own as cell service is limited to nonexistent. The campsites are along the road so you can drive right up to the site. There are a few sites picnic tables and fire rings (BYOW).
This is a great place to stay if you are exploring Acadia National Park, especially late in the season as I was because a lot of the other campgrounds are closed by mid-October. This friendly site is just a stones throw from the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse right off Highway 102A. Nice campsites even though they are a little close together, but what campsites aren't? Lots of options here from big rigs to tents to cabins. Nice play area for the kids, a laundry, recreation room and large, clean facilities. There are campsites on both sides of the highway.
