Private and shaded

Have camped here for 2 nights. Plenty of dirt roads to pull off of onto though whether or not they are just turn around areas for ohv folks is unclear. Very well shaded and the spot I found was next to a creek. Some shot gun shells and minimal trash at the site. Signs mark where Clatsop Forest began and the 14 day limit.

Just amazing

Got here Saturday and passed by quite a few cars to find a spot on the road. Little did I know I was parking next to a rushing creek and beautiful moss! Knock on wood, no rangers have passed by to ask me how long I’m staying or have been here. Exactly one hour from Portland and 2 bars of phone signal on T mobile. It does get quite cold here at night so make sure to bundle up.

So many bugs and bathrooms far

Even though this seems like it’s in the trees there was actually no shade! Literally hundreds of gnats outside my tent and it was April! Can’t imagine how bad it is in the summer. The only bathroom was not very centrally located so used my portable toilet. The trail to the falls itself is a ten minute drive from this site but I stayed in Manor Area because that’s where they allow dogs. It was I think 12 a night but should have been free. Good phone signal though. Did not like having my tent on a asphalt pad.

Wow!

Hey y’all! Wow this was a perfect camping spot. Very few people around and they were all gone by Saturday afternoon. A few nearby trails but watch for bears! Saw one in the first hour of camping. Can stay up to 21 days at a time which I’ll be doing soon!
