This CG is one of our favorites. There are only a few sites and only a couple that have privacy the location is great. It sits right on the Metolius River and is idyllic scenery.

vault toilet only, no WiFi or cell service. Trail follows the river, CG host maintains the sites well. 12 mins off the main Hwy 22, 20 min drive to hiking near 3 Fingered Jack, 10 min drive to hike Black Butte. Natural springs close by, store close, gas 12 miles.

Camping on Shadow mountain can be a game of chance. But it can be rewarding. As you drive off hwy 89 and head east toward Kelly you will beer north. This is not a campground, there are just places to pull off and camp as you drive up Shadow. I head there is a campground and RV park but we didn’t go there.

We found a spot to camp nothing is provided, just a spot of dirt and views of the Tetons.

The only problem in the summer is that there’s a late night party crowd that can swoop in and can be noisy.

First come first served.

This campground is a nice well maintained place with clean facilities and well dispersed sites. It was a bad fire season when we were there so it’s pretty smoky in my picture.

Clean bathrooms scattered throughout, water available. Nice tree cover and a River right at the edge of where we were. There’s trails and the lake close by too. Picnic tables and nice fire pits.

It was a very quiet place and has several loops in the campground.

Ok we thought this was going to be a good spot by the looks of it but our experience was mixed. It was hot when we were arrived at 5pm at around 101, but cooled down nicely as the sun went down.

The site had nice grass and was clean with nice shower facilities in the center of our loop fro site #38. The train goes through several times per night and is super loud!

Overall the sites are close together it was really noisy over the Labor Day weekend and we hardly got any sleep. The tree cover is nice but you can’t see any stars that way.

Nice and clean but won’t go back.

Steamboat Lake State Campground is a very clean and beautiful site right on the lake. We were in site 166, on the end and overlooking the lake. The area has 2 campground areas once you pass the showers and store.

Watch for the sites that are walk-I’m only where you have to use a cart to haul your stuff. Although they are nice we chose a drive up site.

This campground doesn’t have many trees but still seemed private with cool metal dividing walls that give you shade as well.

Vault toilets only at the campground or you can drive back to the showers area for real facilities, laundry and showers. Water at each loop. Would definitely return.

I had never been to a KOA campground before but we were driving cross country and were tired. For $43 for a tent site we got a nice patch of grass and a fire pit. It’s clean and comfortable, but definitely a busy place. You are right next to your neighbor but they do try and put you in every-other site for space. Great bathroom facilities, dog park, amenities.

It really depends on what you like. We are tent campers that like forest service campgrounds so this is too busy for us. But a nice spot.

This nice clean campground is located outside the west side of Glacier NP. It took us 10 minutes to get there from Camas Road. It's a great spot somewhat secluded and quiet in amongst the hills. It's woodsy and pretty private you can't hear your neighbor.

Everything around there is around $20/night I think this was $15. Pit toilets and pump your own water.

They have quite a few spaces on 3 loops and have group spots too.

We stayed at the Avalanche Creek Campground in Glacier after Labor Day weekend and had a great experience. It is a first-come first-serve campground so you have to get there in the morning especially in the summer in order to get a spot. But we found that after Labor Day it is easier. We stopped there at 2pm and still got a great spot. It is set in the woods and very well kept. Bathrooms left a little to be desired as they didn't have lights, so bring a headlamp and they aren't heated so dress warm. It was a nice quiet campground and very peaceful. The stargazing was great out here.

We camp with a 3 person tent and just one vehicle.

We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Harris Beach State Park for one night and lived our spot. We stayed in B09 and it was a nice secluded spot. We couldn't see our neighbors on either side as we were surrounded by lovely trees and shrubs. Very private and quiet. Showers were clean and had hot water too! We had a nice dinner on our camp stove of fresh grilled steelhead with fresh corn from a seafood shop right in town. You are only 2 miles north of Brookings which has adequate supplies in case you run out of something!

We will definitely be back!
