We were not sure about taking such a detour from our path to Asheville, but are so glad we did! We booked a spot “in the meadow” but when we arrived, they had rooms in the lodge for just $20 more. Great old building + comfy beds + no wet tent to pack up = sold! Our room was next to the bathroom, so we wore earplugs. Slept great. It was Saturday night with a bluegrass band, friendly families with kids, good food and drinks; totally our jam. This place is beautiful and worth visiting.
Steve bought this site from KOA in July and is working on upgrades. It is very clean and all the amenities work, but is in need of paint and TLC. Check power at yr site before unpacking as some spots are locked. They plan to upgrade electrical but other things need doing first.
Lovely spot under the trees next to a nature preserve. Yes you can hear the freeway; no it didn’t bother us.
Looking for something close to the supercharger in Rawlings and this worked great. Cold night so we slept in the car. There was one other visitor way over by the second pit toilet down by the water, but we had the rim and the view to ourselves otherwise.
This place is spotless and well-cared for.
We are car camping in a Tesla and the destination charge gave us the oomph to go up to Jackson WY the more scenic way via Soda Springs . We were the only guests (weekday after the kids are back in school=quiet time.) Got some road tips and local history from the friendly camp hosts and had a very pleasant stay!
