This park is just outside of Austin. I've lived here my whole life and forget what a little gem this park is. We were in RV spot 11. Nice back in pie shaped spot in a cul-de-sac. No shade over RV so the morning sun warmed it up pretty quick. The rest of the site had some nice shade to set up chairs near the campsite and some good hammock trees.
Such a peaceful and beautiful area in the Piney Woods of East Texas. I wish we'd had more than 2 days here to explore. A lot of shady hiking trails that meander through the trees and near the quiet 4 acre lake. We had RV spot #24 and you could see the lake through the trees. Our spot was nice and open and our neighbors weren't too close. Do bring an extra long hose for the water connection as other reviews have stated. I decided to use the available showers because we had guest staying with us. There are 4 large private bathroom/shower rooms at this area. The shower was nice and hot and the water pressure was fantastic. We fished off of one of the docks in the evening and caught a little few perch. Enough to make me happy. Would have loved to be out on a kayak at sunset on that little lake. We will definitely be back.
Small, quiet campground. Tall pines with hanging moss and palmettos make for interesting topography. Easy 2 mile paved hiking trial meanders around campsite and near lake. Nice sunsets in the evenings on the trail. There's a much longer trail system entrance that I'd like to checkout next time. We stayed in a travel trailer and the RV spots were well maintained, shady but not overgrown and well spaced out. Only about 3 of the campsites closest to the water actually have a good view of the lake. You can see the lake slightly shimmering through the pine trees at the other sites though and that's intriguing. Makes you want to go explore! A small boat dock/ramp near the campsite is nice for those that enjoy water activities. I was wishing we had a boat or kayaks because the water is so peaceful and quiet being that it's surrounded by a National Forest. I bet the fishing is great! Pretty little places to peel off from the trail to the left of the boat dock for picnics and jumping in the water. Saw some pretty cranes fishing. We had a nice refreshing rainstorm roll in and cool it down.
