I am an office worker during the week, but you will find me hiking or camping as much as I can on the weekends! I also rockhound!

A great getaway

This beautiful campground is nestled in the Unitas. And is a wonderful place to visit. There are definitely pros and cons to that visit though.

Pros:

Small campground and not crowded

Gorgeous views

Quiet

Near trailheads and fishing

Wildlife

Vault toilets

Drinking water for busy season

Cons:

The mosquitos were awful

No shade in a few of the spots. I mean NONE. Not one tree. Be prepared with a canopy

The road to get there is 4 miles of some of the worst dirt road.

I would still recommend this campground. Just be prepared.

Great mountain getaway for the day

I loved this day use site.  You are able to check in early in the morning and keep the site late into the evening.  So you can enjoy your mountain air all day.  There are all the amenities you need for the day including firepits and toilets.  Unfortunately for our trip the toilets were under construction, but they had a honey bucket. Gorgeous views and loved the sound of water.

My Home away from Home

Several years (10) ago I booked this KOA to travel with friends and visit Yellowstone.  They all backed out, and it ended up being an incredible trip with my Mom.  So much so that we are having our 11th trip this year.  I am also bringing my husband separately for his first time.

This KOA is well kept, clean, spacious, plenty of fun things to do, the staff is courteous.  And I love the different options that you have for staying there.  Tents, RV's, and Cabins.  The general store is great if you forget anything.  And the BBQ is wonderful for breakfast or dinner!

The accommodations are perfect.  We have stayed in tents and cabins.  I love that each site has a picnic table, and fire pit.  If you choose a cabin, it consists of beds, a porch swing, and a space heater.  Unless you choose to upgrade (which we have done in the past as well).  Then you have a kitchenette and bathroom/shower.

A beaYURTiful place

This was the first time that we stayed in a yurt, and it is a game changer.  It is honestly so nice once in a while to not have to put up camp or break camp.  For a nice, glamping getaway this is the place to be.  The grounds are beautiful, the host is kind, it is so quiet, and there was a lot of wildlife.  I recommend it for those who don't want to miss the comforts that they have at home, or just for those of us who tent camp and want to make is even more special once in a while.

Always a favorite

This has become a family favorite.  We come every single year.  The campsites are beautiful, lots of shade.  There is also always a lot of wildlife.  This year was a moose and her calf, deer, owls, etc.

A beautiful respite

Spruces is a beautiful campground with a ton of trees.  It is clean, well taken care of, and I highly recommend.  My one concern this year wasn't anything to do with them, but the forest service.  They came and chopped down trees right above our camp for the entire week.  We had to leave the campsite until after 2 each day because it was so loud.  The camp hosts aren't notified when they are coming ever.  So nothing wrong with them, just something to be prepared for.  It is within distance of many hikes, make sure to take advantage!

Beautiful and Solitary

The drive and location is beautiful.  The campground is large and there is a lot of privacy.  It was so quiet the entire time we stayed here.  We also only saw a few people. The drop toilets were surprisingly not awful.  I loved how many trees there were, and the proximity to Tibble Fork reservoir.  I will definitely be going back.

Beautiful Location

I booked a double site here for the first time, and they are beautiful.  I enjoyed the location, the space, and my whole family did as well!  There was some garbage in the fire pit when we arrived, but other than that it was fantastic. Soap and water with flushing toilets, etc.

A lot of shade

This was a great site for big groups.  A lot to do, and beautiful as well.  No shortage of trees and wildlife!  Would definitely stay here again!  I also love how close it is to the Donut Falls trail!

A beautiful place

Jordanelle has quickly become an annual tradition with the family.  All siblings, nieces, and nephews, grandparents come for a couple of days and we have a great time.  We use tents and RV's, but there are also cabins to rent as well!  Depending on what spot you get, there may or may not be a lot of shade.  Come prepared with coverings and it is great.  The water is wonderful, and all of the kids and dogs love it as well!  I recommend!

An all time favorite!

I come to this campground every single year and have for the past 9 years in a row (14 trips total).  This campground has all the amenities you may need or want!  Tent camping, cabin, RV, etc.  And I have done them all there.  There is a laundry room, showers, outdoor activities like biking, ice cream, mini-golf, playground, etc.  I typically rent a cabin nowadays.  I have stayed in the one-bedroom, and the two-bedroom deluxe with kitchen and bathroom/shower.  Both are great!  I highly recommend coming to this campground and cannot wait until I am there again this year!

This campground is only 6 miles from the West Entrance.

An absolute favorite

I had heard amazing things about Spruces for years.  I was required to take a week off work, so I booked a site here.  And I was not sorry at all.  This was late June.  It rained and snowed for the first couple of days, but that didn't bother us.  It is absolutely incredible here.  The campground is gorgeous!  We had some really irritating people next to us that came later in the week.  But that can't be helped.  Plenty of hiking trails, and just walking the road around the campground was our favorite!

A nice getaway

With covid last year, I just needed to get away.  I went in June, and it was lovely.  It was chilly for sure, but it was so nice.  It was quiet, tucked away from anyone.  Didn't really see anyone for the three days we are there.  Our site was next to the river, which really helped drown out all other sounds!  I have already booked a site for this year!  The campground is beautiful, and we had a lot of aspen trees at our site.  Beautiful!

A family tradition

A few years ago, I looked for a campground that could accommodate larger groups (12 people).  This campground quickly became a favorite and an annual tradition for us all!  We get a double site every year, and this is by far one of my favorite weekends of the year.  The toilets are flush toilets, not vaults.  It is close to Brighton and Silver Lake.  The campground is GORGEOUS and so quiet.  The hosts are so kind.  My nieces and nephews look forward to this trip every year, and you will too!

Absolutely Gorgeous

I decided last minute to book a campsite at the Trial Lake campground.  It had been years since I had visited the Uintas.  I was lucky to get a great spot fairly close to the lake (not a view).  The hosts were kind and kept their distance with covid.  The campsite was clean and beautiful.  We had visits from animals, was generally quiet (minus a couple that fought at 2am).  The weather was incredible, just what I hope for in a late summer trip.  Warm during the day (short sleeves, etc.)  cool at night.  I will recommend this campground, and will definitely be going back.  The other great thing, it isn't fair from other sites and so close to many trails!
