Very close to the RMNP, but far enough away that you aren't bombarded with tourists. Located very near shadow mountain lake, but no sites are actually on the lake. Tent pad was a little small for out 6 person tent, but we made it work.

Stayed here for a few nights in July. Great location for the popular attractions in RMNP, also convenient that the shuttle stopped at the campground, and was located across the street. Nightly talks/shows at the amphitheater. Only downfall was the loop that we stayed in was almost treeless because of trees that have died, so wind was a problem with our tent, but the views made up for it!!

Nice campground with electric at some sites and showers! Lake is a good size and beach is very nice. Personally prefer the lake sites, most have sandy beach like areas right by campsite then!! Reservations can be made, which is always nice!!

Even though I am from the town of Townsend, which is about 5 miles from boot lake, this has always been my favorite campground, with hiking trails that aren't usually that busy to a beach you can relax on, it is the perfect place to spend a weekend, or week for that matter. Bring your kayak/canoe and enjoy the lake after wake hours also!

Camped on Sand Island. Kayaked to the island and the next day got to explore the sea caves on the island. There was a nice walking path to the lighthouse, which we were lucky enough to tour!

Beautiful, but crowded area. Campsites were pretty close to one another, and not many trees to separate the sites. There is a lot of things to do from hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking and the list could go on and on..

A nice up north campground. No reservations so it is first come first serve. Only electric motors on the lake so it is usually a quiet setting. Away from town for a nice relaxing time

Not many sites for such an amazing location, but we got lucky and found a empty site the last day of our trip to the pictures rocks! Amazing view and even better beach. Only downfall is it got pretty windy at some points
