My husband and I got to this spot at about 11:30am and we only saw one camp spot available, so get there early! It fills up quick! There’s beautiful views of the Teton mountains as people say, the roads are a bit rough and inclined but that’s everywhere in the west really:) no four wheel drive needed at all. We have a 2 wheel drive truck and a 16ft camper that made it up and down just fine. It’s also a narrow road up to the upper camping area so stay going slow and watch for others coming the opposite way!!! If the top part gets full it’s pretty packed together, and people stayed in spots that were not designated camp sites. Also our site was full of trash and someone DIDNT pick up after their dog! Always leave nothing but footprints! Practice leaving no trace!
This free camping area has unbelievable breathtaking views especially at sunrise/sunset! The stars are also extremely visible since you’re staying on the rocks right along the river. The only reason I rate this place a 4/5 is the potholes leading up to the camping! There’s ways through it softer than others but almost no way you won’t bottom out. My fiancé and I have a Chevy truck and a 16ft camper and we bottomed out about 3-4 times before reaching the rocks. It’s Worth it I’d say, everyone who’s stayed around us has had friendly pets (cats and dogs) and they’ve all been extremely friendly and welcoming as well! You can stay long than the 3 day limit as well that’s what we have been told, BY LAW you can’t stay long than 14 days dispersed camping but we had been told by a man who visits here monthly that the locals just have an issue with people staying longer than 3 days because they want their own space. Sharing caring, and I’m glad we had the friendly people around us that we did, made the experience so much better. The water was too cold to bathe in so we fished instead! Caught nothing. Locals were jumping off the bridge, lots of flys but not many bugs. All rocky unless you’re staying in the trees where it’s mostly tent camping! Overall we loved this spot! It’s amazing and we are staying longer than expected and definitely coming back here!
My Fiancé and I loved these dispersed camping sites! They’re scattered all along the drive of the mountain. The roads are all dirt going back to the sites. They’re plenty big for a 20ft camper, we have a 16ft pull behind and our truck and we still had plenty of room on our site and it wasn’t even a group site. There are a few extra big spots for groups. No fires, but your dogs will love this area.
My boyfriend and I were so excited to camp at Wrinkle Rock. When we got there we noticed all that was there for camping was tent on designated areas. There’s a small outhouse and a somewhat narrow one way loop to park in. So definitely wasn’t enough room for our 16ft camper with a slide out. It looks like a beautiful breathtaking spot but we had to miss out. For being free it’s definitely worth the tent camp!
