Spent the weekend camping on the pond, at one of the "hike in sites". The campground is a beautiful place arranged around a little pond which is controlled by a spillover dam. The pond has fish and plenty of hiking trails. There is a nice beach area to go swimming and the campsites are well maintained. The site we chose is around the back of the pond and you have to hike in to get to it. As such each site has a pit toilet which was interesting. The regular sites are very nice with gravel for campers and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Great place to bring the family.
Great family campground. I have spent two separate occasions at North South Lake and loved both of them. The first visit was just with my immediate family. We had decided to go late in the season and on a whim we picked North South Lake. We had the majority of the park to ourselves as it was so close to the close of the season. The park was clean and the site was nice and private. We enjoyed the numerous hiking trails in and around the park and the sites were amazing. The second time we actually took some friends along. Again, great experience. The site was clean, the park personnel were friendly and the hiking trails were great. We enjoyed some time down at the lake and event went swimming. The bathrooms are typical for a DEC campground. They are on the older side and get cleaned only once a day which means that as the camp gets crowded they can get a bit dirty. But otherwise the place was great and we will definitely return again.
I took my family to this campground for a weekend away. The campground itself is a nice quiet little place with a stream running through it. There are a lot of great hiking trails that can be accessed from this campground. And Slide Mountain is a perfect hiking destination. The grounds were well kept and for the most part clean. Typical of a NYS DEC Campground. The bathrooms were older and a bit run down. But they were clean and usable. The only down side was a strong thunderstorm that came through on the day we arrived and we had torrents of water running through our site and the 'quaint' stream became a large rushing river. It was still a nice place and I'd go back again.
