I had some family members camping here, and took a quick day trip just to look around and take a couple of small hikes, and to use the dump station.
Campground has a shower/bathroom/laundry block that looks well taken care of. Washers and dryers are $1.25. There is a handicap shower available. Dump station was $10 for non-campers.
Nice hiking trails right along the waters edge, but you’ll want to bring some bug spray to fend off the voracious mosquitoes. We were there in mid-October, I shudder to think what it’s like in the summer.
We foolishly thought we might find a dispersed spot at Vedauwoo in mid-July and were disappointed, but not really surprised. We had another pin dropped on our map for the dry camping at Government Gully Rd and headed there in the late afternoon.
The road in is pretty good, our low slung front wheel drive Travato made it easily, although there is a bit of a short, steep hill to climb if you can't find a spot in the lower area.
During our visit, the lower area could probably have supported one or two more rigs, but it would start getting a bit crowded at that point. We headed up the hill and found a great spot overlooking a mountain meadow (and some really cool dispersed camping sites if it hadn't been closed for a reclamation project). There were plenty of rigs up there, including some pretty big travel trailers and fifth wheels, but it was still pretty quiet. We could see the lights of Laramie in the distance out our back door, which was kind of nice.
So a decent campsite if you don't mind neighbors!
A beautiful city park with full hookups available in a really pretty town! And free, although they do take donations and I would recommend it so they can continue to provide this great service.
We found it a bit confusing even finding the spots - so enter from S 10th Street and take the last right into the park and look for the power pedestals. Sites seem very level, offer 50/30 amp hookups along with water. Also an RV dump! Cool black squirrels everywhere, and the park has a swimming pool, tennis courts, restrooms and many other amenities. You can stay up to 7 nights.
We'll definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in this part of Kansas again!
We just bought a travel trailer, and this campground was recommended to us as a good place to stop on the way back home by an employee.
There are 12 gravel pull thru sites with 50, 30, and 20 amp service. Each site also has water, a fire pit with a grate, and a nice picnic table (the kind made of plastic coated wire mesh, if you understand what I mean). There are lots of trash receptacles, an RV dump, and flush toilets, and all this is located on a pretty little lake that gets lots of anglers out on these earthen piers. All for $15 per nite, or $5 per nite for tent campers or RVers without hookups.
The local sheriff's deputy drove through several times while we were there. Payment is on the honor system. There is what looks like a boardwalk path through a wildlife area, but it was closed during our visit.
All in all, a great place to hook up and enjoy some AC in our rig on a sweltering, humid July evening!
