Convenient, safe campground near several attractions in the heart of Colorado Springs.
Free camping in designated camping area per MO Dept of Conservation rules. Pit toilets and mowed area for camping. Hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities inside the area.
This is a great free camping site in western Kansas right off 36 Hwy. Free for tents and RV’s if you boondock. $25 fee to hookup to electric and water. Shower house and bathrooms were a little run down, but worked just the same as a 5 star hotel. Pizza Hut, Dollar General and gas stations within walking distance. Our stay was quiet and we were the only campers. Right behind the city public works facility so there was some noise and traffic there but not at all annoying.
Very busy in summer, fcfs campground. Several campsites with most just a few feet from the water. Camp hosts were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful about the area.
Usable camping off I-70. Look for better options though as this isn’t a free spot. Mosquitoes were terrible and a couple of n’er-do-wells in Breaking Bad RV’s were occupying the best spots. The vault toilets were closed off and strong smell of dead body/animal was present around the dumpster. Definitely an awesome view of mountains on both sides of the campground and it’s right next to the city limits of Gypsum if supplies are needed.
