Peaceful, beautiful, incredible

The perfect drive up private campsite you will find in Iowa. Very quiet with a beautiful view of three ponds and a sunset you will not want to miss. There are four campsites and a soon-to-be glamp site. Spacious, tranquil, and private. Halfway between Pella and Knoxville and on the lake red rocks peninsula, this is a must stay campsite.

The perfect campsite for a beginner at Isle Royale

One of the other reviewers listed out everything you need to know about this site, go read Matt's review. This is a great place to see moose

Secluded island next to Windigo

You can only reach this island by canoe/ kayak / boat. It's a 30ish minute kayak paddle to get to the dock of the island, then when you arrive, there are three camping shelters less than a quarter mile from the dock. The island doesn't have any trails The only camping sites we saw where the shelters. Fires are not allowed. The shelters are pretty big but they are first come first served.

Quiet, convenient, and friendly

A great campsite just a few minutes from the main highway up the coast of lake superior. There's a bar with a kitchen where you check in to the campsite filled with friendly people, games, and great food. But enough about that, the campsite itself is very private with a spot to park you car, and you are surrounded by trees and bushes for each individual campsite. A fire pit and picnic table can be found at each site. There is potable water, showers, and an outhouse. Ice, firewood, and limited camping supplies are available for purchase at the bar.

Quaint campsite near a lake

I wish I new how to fish because this campsite offers a beautiful lake with plenty of bass. On top of that, the fire pit has a very nice two-tier cooking grate that can be rotated on or off the fire, although I couldn't find any firewood sold at the park, Indianola Iowa is just a few miles north and they have everything you could need (including an awesome hot air balloon festival in the summer). The site is quiet and peaceful and the restrooms are well maintained. 10/10

I'm giving it 5 stars but it was a disappointment

I'm sure this is an amazing campsite, but it was a little to rustic for my liking. There is no cell service within 30 miles, so for an outsider who doesn't know the area, it was difficult to find the campsite. You also better bring everything you need beforehand. There are no grocery stores anywhere near the campsite and we didn't have any food with us. The firewood is unbundled and there are no showers. We ended up not staying here because we were not prepared. It is nice that each campsite has a stone "oven" as a fire pit and a trash can on site.

Peaceful and well kept

We stayed at royal oak campsite it was very nice, the restrooms were pristine. The fire pit was great for cooking.

Very quiet and beautiful

Quiet campsite run by NPS. Beautiful in the fall. Great fire pit and gravel elevated platform for tents and activities

Everything you ever wanted and more

Tent camped at the park late October and everything was perfect. Very quiet, flat ground, so much room, the cleanest and nicest bathhouse I've ever seen, hot water included. Not to mention a very nice fire pit and picnic table at our site. Firewood and ice on site and the best of all, the full service brewery, restaurant, and concert venue all on site. 100/10 best campsite I've ever stayed at.

Beautifully kept and wonderful service

Great place to camp with a built in fire pit and picnic table. The camp staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the pizza they sell is to die for
