This place gets CROWDED, and is hard to drive around/walk around due to the amount of day users.  Stayed in a cute yurt which was a bit of walk from the lake (~.25 mi) which is fine but getting my kayak down was a bit of a pain due to the amount of people occupying the road/parking etc.   Stunning views and didn't see anybody on the hike up to lost lake.  Store was poorly set up and chaotic, check in process took quite some time and was confusing.

We stayed at a cabin toward the end of the park. The cabins are great and super comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. Saw park staff cleaning and taking out the trash frequently. It is about 10 feet from the highway so loud all day/night.  Interesting history but the springs themselves have mostly been paved over by 84.  Hiking trails a bit confusing and mostly gas line right of ways.  Would recommend if you need a comfortable place to stay on a road trip but not exactly a "camping" getaway.

Really nice big Campground with bathrooms and water.  

We were at campsite 59 which was full of ants (the camp host said that one was one of the worst and the people before us who had severe allergies had to leave).  Also in front of a mini trail to the lake so lots of people walking through our site.  Also had to walk all of our stuff in as the parking lot is right there but a bit down (Which I prefer but people with ADA issues may want to be aware). Overall more of an RV park but a nice place.

Stayed in campsite 10 which was spacious, but claimed to be "riverfront" and really wasn't.  Pit toilet but no running water, minus the streams. Great swimming holes and trailheads close by. Didn't get too buggy, but would bring a table cloth as the picnic tables had ants.  Excited to go back when its hotter and splash around!

This is a pristine campground.  Great Bathrooms (although they were drop, there isn't running water). Spacious campsites.  If you go in late June the inlet the campground is on is mostly dried up, but the boat launch was still usable. Would recommend.

This was a great location for loads of hikes in the area. Close enough to the Dalles and Maryhill if your dinner went south, but far enough away where it wasn't an issue of feeling like you were in a city. Beautiful Lake and super close to the Petraglyphs (do the tour that leaves a 3 minute walk from the campsite!!) It was SUPER windy, the bathrooms seemed pretty far from the tent camping sites, (they were all walk in) and there was a train track super close, but overall a good experience.

Hiked up on Friday night and got the last spot. No amenities, and a 2 mile straight uphill hike to get here. Theres a map of the campsites, but they are hard to find. None are near te lake so fill upwater in bulk! Stunning sunsets and sunrises. Made for a nice striking point to the summit. Gets busy. Have bug spray handy!

We headed to South Steens as a basecamp for some of the longer hikes. This campground is SUPER big, and we didn't have a problem getting a spot even though it was FCFS in the middle of the weekend. Clean picnic tables and sites. They have running water (So stock up before headed into the gorge! - next water is Jackman Park!) and clean pit toilets. Not a lot of shade so prep for that. All in all a nice BLM spot!

Clean campsite. Still moderatly far from the steens but not so far. Close to kiger gorge. Clean bathrooms. Wasnt full at 7pm on a saturday. Nice views of the lake. Bees in site 2-avoid

We blew through here on the way to the steens. Still pretty far away from the gorge and things worth seeing. Seemed like a good option for RVs who didnt want to deal with steens loop to leave their trailer. Watch for snaaaaakes and mosquitos. Big sites, but not a lot of privacy or shade.

This campground makes a great jumping off point for a load of the trails in the area. Super close to the pct. very buggy in July. If the idea of hiking into a campsite is daunting, this would make a good home base

This state park is right on the river with full access! Bring your floaties! It gets super busy on the weekend. Its probably the closest camping to Bend, so worth checking out for sure. This isnt where the falls are, but a nice place to spend a day or two lazing the river! Nice facilities

I was unimpressed. Okay local if you need to camp in Portland. Not so nice bathrooms. Tent camping was in a big field with weird gravel bits that got louder in the morning. No barriers between campsites. I would pass and find a nicer place to pitch your te t

This was less of a campsite and more of a place to stay. Youre next to the only public bathrooms between Bend and John Day so prep to stay up all night as trucks roll in and out. Very few food options or grocery stores so come prepared. Right on a road. Close to painted hills, but I'd still try to find better camping.

This was an awesome place right at the trailhead. Quiet with pit toliet access ans so much beauty. Shallow, swimable lake for when youre done hiking. Love it here

Beautiful campsite on the lake. I love Newberry Caldera. Lots of cool hikes around. Cool lakes you can hike or paddle around to hot springs. Quieter than some of the areas in Bend.

This was a great campsite. We were in a walk in Tent site right on the lake which was quiet for the most part. Right next to hiking path that went around the lake. There didn't appear to be a boat put in around the area, but there is one down the street. We stayed in Campsite 28, which helped get away from the chaos of the big group sites which I would strongly Recommend! Beautiful place.

This was a nice spot to chill at. NO DOGS NO DOGS NO DOGS which was a downside for sure. Not really a great boat put in, so if you have somethign heavy, go elsewhere. Drop toilets. Can get SUPER busy, but if you go mid weeks its pretty serene. Small lake so don't expect a huge paddle. Worth it if you're looking for a new lake in the area, but don't expect Cascade views or the like!

IF you're camping in the Gorge, you're probably going here. Its right off the road and loud (it didn't help that we had a super rude family walking through our campsite the entire time). Bathrooms and running water. I wish the gorge had a better place to camp. I'd go back, but only if I had to.

A little less of a campsite and more of a dispersed type of thing. No bathrooms/water (If this is the right one) but AMAZING private sites with some sweet sweet swimming holes.
