Stay 7/24-9/24, Site#3

I almost hate to write this review as with only 8 spots I don't want it to get so busy we can't get a reservation!

On it's surface the description may not sound like much, gravel parking lot, no‘park type’ amenities etc., but it is truly amazing here. If you're looking for pickle ball courts, pools and crowds, this probably isn't the place for you. If you're looking for the closest thing to boondocking with FHUs and the nicest owners, this is it!

So what makes it so special?

With only 8 spots in a center row, there is no one in front or behind blocking your view. We had Point Lookout, Lone Cone, and Knife Edge of Mesa Verde NP out our front window, high desert BLM out our rear window, and Sleeping Ute Mtn. out our campside windows.

Minimal lighting makes Dark Sky stargazing amazing!

We had views everywhere, gorgeous sunsets and wildlife of some sort every morning and evening. The owner, Bill, passes through daily for trash pickup and is a wealth of information on things to do locally. His wife Judy even shared some of the garden harvest with us. All this is before even mentioning everything there is to do within 100yds to 30m of this centralized location.

About the Park:

Open Seasonally April- September, reservations open in January.

NO OTA Channels but a Clear sky for DISH/Starlink and Verizon(3b without a booster).

8 LONG level gravel pull through sites that are very well maintained… great for longer 5th wheels, large motorhomes with cargo trailers, double tows, or new RVers not wanting to back in after a long day of travel.

Sites are set up Buddy Style, but are well spaced and have a picnic table in a covered pavillion on cement pad between sites. End spots have their own Pavillion.

Daily trash pickup. Fire pit, Horseshoe pit, and large covered communal table in a centralized location.

FHU had no issues, even water pressure was good.

No bathroom/shower ammenities, so only self contained units permitted.

It's close enough to 160 to be easily accessible for an overnight, but far enough to not hear it. Road L gets some traffic, but quites down at night. There is a racetrack on 160 that you might hear on Friday& Saturdays during race season, but it wasn't bad. We slept with the windows open most nights with no issues.

Roads in are good till the last unpaved bit. The unpaved road is good, just a little bump at the transition. No overhead obstacles for us taller rigs.

Discounts available on weekly and monthly stays make it a good deal for spending some time exploring the area.

Area Attractions: Phil's World hiking/biking/ATV trails is maybe 100yds from the entrance. Mesa Verde NP is a 10min drive, Canyons of the Ancients visitor center is about 20min, Yucca House about 30min, town of Cortez about 8 min, Delores about 25min, and Durango about 35min(where you can take the Silverton Train). We spent 2 months here and still didn't see everything!

The BLM land behind us presented a show of wildlife every morning/evening and plenty of hiking. Deer almost daily. Our neighbor spent his evenings walking the land scouting ruins which are pretty much everywhere around here.

Several stores in Cortez… City Market, Safeway, Walmart, Autozone, O’Reillys, well stocked liquor store, several fast foods and some really great resturants. Definitely try The Wigglin Pig and Once Upon A Sandwich. Great RV repair shop in Mancos, about 15m away, Kodiak RV. They offer mobile tech services as well. Free dump at the Maverick if you're boondocking in the area. Cortez Maverick is much easier than the Durango Maverick to maneuver for dumping.

Farmer's Market in Cortez on Saturdays in season.

Fiesta Twin has$5.00 movies on Tuesdays, new releases.

Laundromat by the Subway is the most economical.

Large Rec Center in town with day passes.

This park was an unexpected gem we found when the high heat this summer nixed

some of our boondocking plans. What was supposed to be a 3nt stay, turned into 2 months.

We would definitely stay here again…. Probably next summer😀

NOTE: Site#’s are in reverse order from entrance.#8 closest to the entrance,#1 furthest. Even# sites have their nose facing BLM and rear facing Mesa Verde NP.

Odd# sites have their nose facing Mesa Verde NP, and their rear facing BLM.

Some noise from I80 depending on wind direction.

Rig: 34' 5th Wheel, 13'4" Profile

Confusion about this road being closed.

FS 726 & 728 ARE on the Forrest Svc usage map.

We found FS728 to have a structure at the entrance from old HWY30. It looked like there might be a road back behind it, but we didn't want to risk trespass to find out.

FS726 IS open from the Old HWY 30 side (Exit 323 off I80), and able to camp within 100' of the road.

There is an open meadow at the entrance that can hold several rigs (any size) with reasonable spacing, but we were alone here most of the time so it wasn't an issue. There are spots further up that can hold small to medium sized rigs, or larger if you are adventurous/really good at leveling. Some have gorgous views overlooking the valley & snow capped mountains in the distance. We double checked with a Ranger before settting up and have had Rangers drive through twice since we've been here. No issues what so ever.

So why the confusion?

Looking at older maps, there appears to have once been an entrance to FS726 further West that no longer exists? It is accesible from Old HWY 30, at the 323 exit.

Additionally the road names 'Government Gully' & 'Government Gulch' used in  some reviews are apparently not/no longer are FS726, although they seem to run together for a short bit? It's very confusing.

Highly recommend using a FS Usage Map when scouting this area to make certain you are where you think you are as the roads aren't the best marked we've ever seen and those that are there are pretty faded. If in doubt, the FS office in town was extremely kind & helpful in showing us where we could fit.

Our Spot:

We wound up here after 2hrs scouting out Pole Mountain/Pilot Hill area on the other side of I80.

This was the week before July 4th, and it was crowded with both campers, and RV's that seem to have been placed to mark their spot for the holiday (Slides not out, no camping stuff out etc). No judgements, they were within their 14day limit. Just had a hard time finding a spot on that side of I80.

Spots are pretty far back (although roads were pretty good), not many spots open, lots of cow patties, and not the levelist of sites. Gorgeous area, but we were here to see friends in Laramie and would be back & forth to town a lot, so didn't want a long drive just to get back to the highway each day.

We found it easy to find a spot on this side of I80 (everyone's on the other side).

The whole area is rolling meadows & forrest, so be prepared to spend some time leveling. In fact if you can, take a rest stop, have a snack, destress before entering & leveling… it might save a marraige.

Wildlife here has been fantastic. Pronghorns in the morning as I have my coffee, and Elk in the evenings… Every…Day.

There is no off roading in this area. It is marked at the entrance, and has wooden cross fences with signage at the back of the established sites further up the road. They take that 100' from road seriously…. nice about it… but to quote Gandolf 'You go thus far & no farther'.

CAUTIONS:

Exit 323 U25mph (really sharp).

This U curve is no joke. It's sharp, it's uphill/downhill grade, tilts slightly kind of like a roller coaster in the middle, and is a blind curve because of the trees. Not such a problem coming off Exit 323, the problem is more other drivers coming downhill at the curve from Old HWY30. We've seen 2 wipeouts that missed the curve (one a semi) and slide across oncoming (entrance to FS726) traffic. By the skid marks & disturbed ground, this isn't the first accident at this curve.

Brakes & Towing:

This is a mountain area. In only 6 days going back & forth the 8m to town to visit friends, we've seen 2 5th wheels pulling off I80 smoking like crazy, and 2 on the side of the road.

WIND:

Seriously, it gets windy here, and with no warning. Park accordingly, don't leave awnings out unattended, secure ground stuff. Our preffered scouted spot was beautiful until we moved the rig to it & found that there was no way to get level without putting our beam to the wind. After 3 tries, we opted for our 2nd choice where we could position nose to the wind & still get 'levelish'. Are we perfectly level, nope, but we aren't 'welcome to the carnival fun house' unlevel either :)

Silty dirt/clay, Any size rig, 2 big open areas.

Slick if it rains, dries pretty quick.

(more spots for small to mid size down the side roads & further down FR144)

Cell Service: Varies wildly by site.

No OTA channels

We didn't need dump/water this stay, so no info on those services. Heard Maverick has them, but that parking lot is smallish and VERY busy.

Windy! Campfires, charcoal grills & awnings are were a no go during our stay.

What it is:

A conveinent spot with easy access for any size rig when visiting Arches & Canyonlands. Clean site, minimal micro glass/trash. Uncrowded for the proximity to the parks (20min). Day time us & 1-2 rigs spread out well, night had another 3-4 overnighters. Everyone was curtious & quiet while we were here. Spots easily found even on weekends in June.

What it is not:

The quietest. It is close to 191, but the minimal noise never bothered us. Trains, usually twice a day except on days the Rocky Mountaineer passes through.

Not the most beautiful site we've ever had…..nor is it the worst.

Craggy rock hills in the distance, silty with low scrub vistas across the desert. It has it's charms in it's solitude in an otherwise crowded tourist area & it's nightlife. Had a fox pass through one evening,  a group of Pronghorn a few days later.

There are prettier views closer to Moab, but the ones we scouted were crowded or now cost (Willow Springs), or were going to be more difficult to get our girl into.

Cell Service:

If you need good cell service, go past our spot on FR144 (we have no booster). There is a hill here that reduces the signal to almost unusable on both Verizon & ATT. There is another good sized area past us on the right that has much better signal.

Moab Brewery, expensive but delicious with a nice selection of beers. El Tapatio satisfied our Mexican craving. No grocery stores to speak of & what is here is pricey. State liquor store in Moab, well stocked for liqour & wine.

This area was exactly what we needed. Easy access from I70, away from the crowds, but close enough to visit the parks & town, no muss/no fuss, easily leveled & clean. We will park in the 2nd area when next we pass through for better cell signal.

Beautiful spot close to everything

Stayed here 14nts over Memorial Day weekend. A little crowded over the holiday, but late arrivals were still able to find spots. Could see others in the distance, but never felt crowded. Had a few over nighters park a bit close, but to be expected as we only went as far back as Breakoff One. There is a LOT of space further on if you have decent  clearance.

ROAD OPTIONs:

After the cattle guard going straight: Lots of space here for all size rigs - even a semi towing a 5th wheel. Nice view of the cliffs across the highway. This area is the busiest area as it is easy in/out for overnighters. Not RV Park close, but you will see and possibly hear your neighbors on the weekends. Weekdays fairly spread out.

After the cattleguard turning right: That wash is no joke.

We're a 34' long 5th wheel and made it through, but did scrape the passenger side butt …. gotta love doing in field repairs.

The wash is deceptive, sloping entry isn't too bad, a steeper incline coming out is a challange for longer or low clearance rigs. The real challange is that it 'S curves' pretty sharply while you're going through it and the slab rocks at the bottom of the wash you cleared entering, are now to the side behind your wheel catching jacks or rear corner… if that makes sense? Had 1 other 5th wheel up here, a few TT of size and lots of smaller vans, truck tents, tents etc, but no one longer than 35' that I could see. Not sure a CA or CC could make the wash AND curve with no pivot point? Scout it out before entering. Great for small van, cars, tents though. Lots of space for privacy, especially going back further.

Trash: Our site was very clean with the exception of right after Memorial Day. Lots of tp & wipes blowing down the road after all the holiday campers. The entrance off 24 is a different story. Lots of burned cans, broken glass etc…. this is also not the camping area as far as i can tell? It is before the Limited Use sign and cattle guard… although no one was running people off, and there were several camped there.

Ranger came through Friday before Memorial Day, and we saw them pass through last weekend. Did not see any 'permanant campers' even in the remote areas when we went bike riding.

So will we  be back? Yep, it is beautiful here, easy access to park and hikes, charming small town…Saturday Farmer's Market was fun, Slackers expensive but good….. when in the park, BUY THE PIE. As a matter of fact, buy one or two to take home. Seriously delicicious!

Next time we will either opt for the easy road, or more likely, do a much better scouting of that wash…. the view out all windows was worth the boo boo!

Escorted to our sight. Nick was very helpful with local info on where to find what.

There is some road noise. We didn't hear it in our rig with the AC on, but you will hear it if outside.

Nice pool area,  playground for the kids.

Laundry is a little small for a park this size,  but it wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait.

Did not use the new bathrooms.

Access from the highway was good, and new section roads are easily navigable in a larger rig.

They do water at night, so don't leave anything out that can't get wet.

We would stay here again when in the area.

Campground:

Not for bigger rigs. 4 spots fairly close together, picnic tables, pit toilets.  Loop in is tight, and while we are only 34' long, we're 13.8 on truck and had to do some creative maneuvering to get ourselves back out. Cell signal here was almost non existent, and fairly dense tree cover if using solar.

There was one spot on the left before getting to the Campground we could have fit into, but again, dense tree cover. Didn't check cell signal here.

There is supposed to be more spots past the campground,  but we haven't taken the bikes out yet to explore.

Signboard:

Easily found a spot, even on Labor Day weekend (Friday).  This area could handle 4 or 5 rigs. Cell signal better, but still bounced in/out a bit. We stayed here 2nts to get past the holiday weekend.  Picked up a lot of micro trash, spent shells, and broken bottles. This is also the area where a lot of a sxs park for Day Use. VERY dusty area.

2nd Spot:

WOW what a difference.  After we decided to hang out in the area for a bit longer, we knew we had to move off the main road as the dust was making our solar pout. As you come in, just before the signboard there is a road going up a hill to the right. It looks intimidating,  but can be done going slow in 4wd. We found 3 great spots up there without going back very far.

There are spots further back, as we saw people pulling trailers out, but we haven't explored them yet. We chose the 1st spot on the left for the full solar and gorgeous view of the meadow, tree line, and mountains in the distance. Cell signal comes in stronger on this ridge, but still a little fickle without a booster… note to self, get booster. Picked up medium sized and micro trash here, as well as bullet casings and broken bottles… and a special thanks to whomever left a bag of rotting frozen chicken wings…that was fun, but the view is worth it, and SO MUCH LESS dust.

There is a spot across (right side of road) where we've had over nights pull in late, but they left by 9am and both were very quiet setting up. Other than them, and the people from further back pulling out after the weekend, we've been alone up here.

There is a GORGEOUS spot further up on the right, but I couldn't get any signal.

From all but the campground,  you will hear road noise. I84 is just beyond the trees. I pretend it's waves (don't judge), my husband uses ear plugs. We've both had no issues sleeping.

If we had only had the 1st 2nts experience I would say we would only be back as a last minute overnight, having discovered this other area, yep we'd be back no problem.

As with all boondocking,  scouting out is the key.

Nice stopover on our trip.

Formerly a Jellystone park, and our GPS had a hard time finding it by the address on the confirmation info, but could find it by their name. Apparently the GPS still has the street as Jellystone.

Decent green space between sites, but the length was pretty short. I'm guessing this was built before bigger RVs were commonplace? We parked all the way back in the site, our rear was literally up to the road, and we still had to do some maneuvering to park the truck. Definitely could not have stayed Attached.

Laundry facilities were reasonably priced, clean, and had a nice lounge area. $5.00 a load, but includes dryer as well.

Park is on a cashless system.  Laundry, giftshop etc all only take credit or debit cards.

Everyone we met, both staff & guests was very nice. They even kept the shop & pool area open late for guests to try and see the Northern Lights.

Large parking area as you exit I20 to Red Rock. visible from the hwy.

Good place to drop a rig & scout out (highly recommended).

Snow plow turnaround at the end of Bootjack Dr, so you can get turned around on that road.

Coordinates lead to the main area off the left on Bootjack Dr.

There are 4 offshoot roads we saw, some going way back, but most people were parked fairly close to the tree line, or just in front of them for solar.

Use Google satellite and then scout them out as the roads can get pretty rutted the further in you go.

This area gets pretty full in season, but we still found a spot pretty easily, and an even better spot down in a meadow by a creek (we needed sun for solar) with the help of a neighbor.

CAUTION: if you park down by the creek, watch the weather. It can get a bit mushy in spots, and the road in/out can rut out.

This is a local ATV & Fishing hole.

There will be traffic. Had a few joy riders on a Friday night, but everyone else great.

If you park by the creek, you will have fisherman coming down to fish. They were fun to talk to, and we never felt unsafe. Just be aware this IS a public area, and the local public uses it regularly. If you don't want people passing through to the creek, the meadow area might not be for you.

Wild West Pizza, Firehole BBQ,  Old Town Cafe our favorites in W.Yellowstone,

Cafe Sabor in Island Park.

Groceries & Supplies are at tourist prices, come stocked if you don't want to pay them.

We loved this spot. Peaceful, friendly neighbors, cows across the creek on private land, and Moose in the creek 3 days, easy access to Yellowstone,  and free.  Mid 80's high, mid to low 50's at night. We did have rain, and even some pea sized hail, but mostly just gorgeous days & nights.

New Changes to this area??

Blackrock Canyon BLM Pocatello, ID 8/4/22 DO NOT trust APP coordinates 42.8145, -112.3307 : Campendium 6/20/22 42.8146,-112.3307 : The Dyrt 6/30/22, 42.8142, -112.3306 : FREE Roam / 2019 These coordinates all lead to a reasonably level, fenced dirt parking lot on the left with a vault toilet and concrete walkway going across the road to a covered picnic/stream area. We were very excited. This is NOT the BLM camping area…. or rather more likely, 'no longer' is? There are 3 new looking signs stating Day Use Only, No Overnight Camping. However there is still a signboard by the toilet with the typical BLM rules/regs & 14 day limit? What's a gal to do? So I called the BLM office listed on the sign to clear up the conflicting sign info. Yep, the aforementioned parking lot is NOT FOR OVERNIGHTCAMPING - again, signs are shiney, no weathering, so this may be a new development? We were told there are 2 BLM camping areas.

1 is ACROSS from the aforementioned parking lot… big DEEPLY graveled area on the right as you come in that steeply slopes down to the picnic table area (our autolevel just laughed at us no matter what we did or where we positioned).

2 is about 1/4m further up where the road loops back on itself, and also has a vault toilet (no concrete walkway). This is a medium parking area inside the loop. Looked doable until we noticed the berm hiding under the grass. At 34' backed in, we'd have either lost the under carriage spare tire, or had our big butt sitting on the ground. So this too was a big nope for us.

There is a pullout on the way to the 2nd area, but currently has a 'road closed' sign on it, and another pull out just before the 1st parking area. We could have squeezed into this one, but by this point we were wore out & the thought of all the dust … just nope. We moved on. This is a GORGEOUS area, if you're a smaller footprint, and can get level. Verizon & ATT both usable but not very strong. Road in is a little washboard and hilly, but doable. I15 underpass … we're 13'8" on truck & cleared both with no issues. Definitely recommend dropping your rig in the parking lot and scouting out this area 1st.

Nice overnight break before pushing through SLC. Views were very relaxing.

Rollin Home RV Park

Site #10, PT, FHU, 1nt.

Pros:

Long wide Pullthrough,  with grass dividers.  2 service centers to pick from  make setting up easy.

Beautiful views if you pick your spot wisely. (So office isn't out your back window instead of the mountains).

Clean laundry room.

Office staff very nice.

Yummy gourmet sweets for sale in the office/store.

Visible & ATT both strong signals.

OTA channels good. Plenty of them & good reception.

No issues with power.

Picnic tables.

Cons:

WIFI spotty. Bounced in/out a bit.

Water pressure high,  use regulator.

No pool or playground if you need to entertain kids.

No shade trees.

Overall a very nice newer park & a welcome break before pushing through SLC. We would use them again when in the area.

TIP:

1:  Watch your GPS!

Our Garmin RV890 had us coming in from the South end of Four Mile rd…. only it completely missed the turn ONTO Four Mile (it's just past the refinery). The road has no street sign, no rv park sign etc & said we were still 2m to the turn. Had us going off the asphalt onto gravel, up the mountain a bit to the Four Mile Hunting Club. We got turned around in a parts yard & a local was kind enough to get us back on track. NOT the parks fault,  just a caution that both Garmin. & Waze had no idea where we were.

2:  The pullthroughs by the office, the road to get to them has a tight right turn & is narrow. It sets you up nicely to pull out the gate in the morning, but might be a problem for a bigger rig if you don't realize it in time. We're only 34' & it was a tight turn for us. If you're a triple axle, or over 40' you might want to look at the Pull-throughs in the 2nd section.

Main road in is good. Beautiful views, several pullouts, but will be dusty when trafficked. Large meadow camping/turn around at the 2nd junction with FR646 after the main area of pullouts.

We chose FR3625 offshoot. A bit rocky coming up in one spot but doable if you go slow. 4 really good sized spots for big rigs. The 1st 2 Sites could easily handle 2 big rigs if traveling together. All have some degree of solar - even  with trees. We had no problem staying topped off.

Offshoot FR646(1st junction) just after turning off SH12 has a long drive in, rutted in spots, but the view is worth it if you can make it. Plateau faces west for sunset & stunning view of Red Canyons.

There are MANY offshoot roads here & plenty of spaces. Scout out & you're sure to find what fits your needs. Seriously, a LOT of Sites, even in High Season July!

Dump station, potable and non potable is available in Bryce Canyon NP about 15min away. Someone commented $6, but we saw no signs, just a donation box.

Groceries are pricey in the area. LIMITED hard alcohol is for sale at Ruby's Inn lobby, otherwise,  it's Utah, come stocked with your favorite beverage.

The shuttle service is awesome & easy to use. So much nicer than trying to maneuver/park our tow vehicle in the park.

Cows are present. Most nights down in the meadows,  but did come through our campsite one evening to say hi. Also saw 4 Pronghorns in the meadow, lots of chipmunks and Mountain Bluejays.

And for newbies like me, yes, you can make it under the rock bridges on SH12. It's posted as something like 13'8", but that must be at the very far edge, in one spot. We're 13'8" when on the truck & we …and the semi truck In front of us (we let him go 1st ;)  )… cleared it with plenty of room to spare.

If you have a smaller vehicle with high clearance there are some stunning spots 3/4 down FR646, very remote/private, but def not for bigger rigs, more like truck tent campers.

Temps in July day 85° avg, nights mid 50s. Had passing rains everyday,  but roads stayed passable.

This is at altitude.  Be prepared.  Drink lots of water, take your time, don't overextended yourself if you're not acclimated.

Has been a great stay, we'll definitely stay here again when in the area.

Back again... still waiting on new AC unit

This Park has been a godsend while waiting for a new AC unit… in June/July… in 110° Temps.

Everyone here has been so great working with us to extend our stay till the unit arrived.

Special thanks to Judy & Leslie for making a difficult situation bearable!

The pull throughs are long, room enough for slides on both sides, and have 2 hookups per site…. looks like 2 back ins were combined to make nice pull throughs? So no matter where you park, you can reach one of the set ups. Cable however is only on the rear hookup.

Back in sites are nice, if a tad more confined. We had an amazing mountain view out our back window.

All site services worked as expected.  No blips from the surge protector,  no water pressure issues. Sewer access was easy to get to.

Neighbors were great at all 3 sites we stayed in. Pull throughs are mostly travelers like us. Most back in sites were longer term and just folded us into their community

WIFI was surprisingly good, not something I find at most rv parks, especially in a back row.

Cell signal on Visible & ATT was strong.

Laundry is clean, well air-conditioned,  and very affordable, again not something i usually find in an RV park.

There is no pool, but there is a rec center nearby that you can buy a day or week pass to use.

Smith's grocery (Kroger) is right next door as is Domino's and Starbucks.

If you're here for any length of time, check out Silver Rider bus to Vegas once a week. Made a nice getaway to either gamble or hit the outlet mall.

Chicago Greek is phenomenal if you like Greek food. Highly recommend… and their Chicago Dogs ain't bad either. My favorites are the Chicken pita, the large Village salad to share (nothing like an entire block of feta in your salad), the Saganaki (omg stupid good), and their baklava is outstanding.

The Worton was also outstanding, just a little pricey for us to visit on a regular basis.

Peggy Sue's is cute, and their burgers & club sandwich … delicious.  Really good pies as well. Easy distance from the park.

We had a good time and were well taken care of both times we stayed here.  Someone was always stopping by to see how we were doing, if our ac came in yet etc… we'll be back… possibly this winter ;)

Stunning views but dusty

Hurricane Cliffs aka Sheep's Bridge Rd.

Sites 1-12

PROS:

Stunning views

Free 14 day - although in 14 days we never saw anyone check

Verizon & ATT 4-5 bars even with no booster

Wide open, strong solar all but 1 day

20m to Zion NP, 2m to Virgin Falls Park for a dip in the river

Jem & Hurricane Cliffs Trails right out the door

Free water at Hurricane Maverick (pump 5/6); Free dump & rinse water at La Verkin Maverick

Propane fill at Tractor Supply (call 1st to verify certified personnel  on duty)

Davis & Lin grocery stores close, well stocked, a bit high

Walmart within 20 min. Autozone in Hurricane

Decent restaurants, good movie theater showing new releases

Hurricane Laundry reasonably priced, various sized machines. Attendant was a hoot.

CONS:

Dust… and I mean dust!

Fine, silty, reddish stuff that wafts in the air, settles in your screens, your rugs, your skin, and generally coats anything air touches. The views are worth it, just be prepared to constantly wipe, mop, wash feet, shoes etc.

Sheep's Bridge Rd (SBRd) is pretty Washboarded right now. It is doable going slow, but your gonna rattle you're innards a bit.

Spacing is decent,  but not 'I'm in the middle of nowhere'.

Rigs about 50-100yrds apart, 6-12 rigs/tent/cars a night in our area, half usually only there for the night.

Everyone pretty respectful of noise & lights after 10pm.

Mornings a little noisy as the mountain bikers come through.

Only 3 OTA channels

SITE 1-12:

Silty dirt, scrub brush, no shade, 360 views

1 right off SBRd, easiest overnight, and sized to hold a few rigs. Very dusty.

8 half way in, deceptively large site. You can't  see how big/ long it is until you're past it. Easily held a large Class C & 2  5vers, Could hold more in a group situation.

6 could hold our 34' 5vr, and we saw a 40'+ 5ver get in there but WOW that guy is GOOD!

7 could hold us backed in, truck disconnected to the side.

There is a loop to turn around at site 12, IF no one has parked in the road.

We scouted out other locations in this area as well. The 50s sites are easier access to Zion, but pretty crowded, and not particularly level for us. 25-36 had some nice sites, but a long drive on the washboarded SBRd, and most of the good sites stayed full the 14 days we were here. 38 is an easy overnight right off SBRd similar to #1 on main road, can hold a couple rigs and very dusty. #13 be careful, the big open spot on google maps is actually NOT Dispersed camping, the road on the left leads back to the sites.

Wow, my experience was VERY different from these 2?

Wow, my stay has been VERY different. I had to go back & check that we were talking about the same place in Mesquite, NV!

5nts, #34, FHU Pullthrough

114 Channels cable

Verizon  3 bars,  ATT 4bars

Paved easily navigable roads, Gravel lots.

Good Sam discount $53

Very nice smaller park. Site was long enough for us to stay hooked up, but with plenty of space to park unhooked. Pretty  landscaping, and a great view of the mountains out ourcrear window.

Clubhouse is air-conditioned…. it hit 100° while we were here having our AC looked at, so that was nice. Pool table, reading library, coffee & pastries in the morning.

Nice outdoor covered sitting area & putting green. No play ground, pool or hot tub, but the local Rec center has daily passes for $6 or $3 (senior) per day. Might not be the ideal place to keep kids entertained?

Smiths, Starbucks, Domino's & a smoke shop right out the gate. Walmart, restaurants & fast food places, All in Cycle, Lee's Liquor, and 2 casinos just up the the road.

The laundry has 4 well sized washers for $1.50 a load (30min) 4 well sized dryers for $1.50 a load (45 min), a small ironing board & iron, and best of all is VERY well air conditioned!

The staff here was awesome during our stay. Very friendly,  and eager to make sure you have a good stay. Ray was incredibly helpful getting our AC problem looked into. Judy helped us extend our stay, even stopped by the night before departure to make sure we were all set & say goodbye.

Would we stay here again? Oh yeah. Nice area, nice park, lots to do in the area, and great people. So much nicer than stopping in Vegas….

Good stop over for repairs

332 This is a nicer KOA, located near Sam's Town Casino. Staff was great to work with when we had to extend our stay for repairs. Area is a fairly noisy, but so is everywhere else in Las Vegas. All services worked as expected. Laundry room is clean. Pool area screened from the parking areas. Ice is $3.50 a bag. Site gravel, length, we had to unhook, fairly narrow, but could put slides out without problems. Not much room for a patio set up.. Our site had more mature trees which gave us a little shade on 100° days. across the street. Walmart across the road. Albertsons as well. It was a good stop over for supplies & resupply before Zion.

This was a NOPE for us. Decent views but...

We decided to bypass this one. Road in is very bumpy, and the day we scouted it out, it had a very transient feel vs. Campers stopping over. Just gave me that little voice saying nope. Verizon worked well. Some trash, a lot of broken glass in the sites we stopped at.

Nice stop over

Nice little stop over.

49 Long enough for our 34' 5th wheel, but did unhook. Site is wide enough to park truck beside rig & mature trees provided some shade.

FHU all worked as expected. Verizon & ATT both full bars, which is good as WIFI didn't really reach our site…. not unusual in an RV Park in the overnight spots. OTA channels strong & good variety. Interior roads easy to navigate in larger rig. View of the mountains, even though in town, was nice. Front office crew were great. Laundry room large & inviting. 12 reg washers, 2 large capacity. Snack & soda machines, book lending library, change machine, tables & chairs, carts for moving laundry, and brochure wall for lots of activities near & along popular travel routes. Good variety of grocery, dining, services nearby. Didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. Noise: As others have mentioned, it can be noisy during the day. If you're sensitive to noise, this might not be the best for you. It quiets at night a good deal, and was never a problem for us, but I could see where it might bother some folks. All in all, a great little find when passing through the area. We'll be back.

Close to GCNP & Free

Ponderosa Pines in Kaibab National Forest.

Saw at least a dozen bigger rigs with better backing skills than us tucked away from the road.

Lovely to see trees after 2 months  of desert. Had cows fairly close, deer in the distance. Lots of birds.

Verizon 1-2 bars, ATT showed 1 bar but was unusable. This was fairly close to the entrance with no booster.

Grounds reasonably clean, I've  seen worse. 2 grocery bags over 14 days of broken glass, nails, plastic, used foil, beer caps, shell casings etc on my walks.

Several spots have nice firepits.

There is some road noise, but not bad.

Close to GCNP & free. If you have a pass, use the left lane for quicker entry.

Restaurants & groceries  in the area are at tourist prices, bring what you need or be prepared for sticker shock.

Propane is available at the RV park just past the general store.

We refilled water jugs inside the park at their Spring Water stations each time we went. Laundry at Mather Campground.

Definitely do Desert View Drive while in the area. Gorgeous views & able to get away from the masses at Grand Canyon Village.

Would stay again if in the area.

If coming in late for longer than 1-2nts. Take the 1st spot you can fit into & scout out the next morning. Lots of car/van campers were just here for the night, and there are many easy spaces tucked back from the road that are hard to see from the road when towing. We parked just off the road near the entrance and grabbed a great spot 48hrs later when some neighbors left.

Little pricey for an overnight spot, but nice clean campground

Nice place, staff very friendly. Didn't use any amenities as it was just an overnight stop to dump, pump, clean the rig etc. Campsites were kept clean, plenty of activities if you wanted to participate.

Campsites are a bit close together. WIFI did not work at our site. Power, Water, sewer all worked with no issues.
