Day of Reservation

We had booked another site closer to Luray but when we were 15 minutes out the camp hostess of that site realized we were gonna be too big (38ft) for her site.

After some calling around we were able to book this site. Was a great jumping off point to visit DC.

Only complaint is it was pricey but I imagine that ya to do with the proximity to DC?

Great Park

The campground itself is maintained better than any other state run campground I’ve ever been to.

The things one must take into consideration is that you need to bring ANYTHING you might need for groceries and there is limited cell coverage for ATT.

Accommodating Staff

As is often the case with traveling, plans changed right after booking the site. Called the staff to explain and they were gracious to change our reservation to the following week, then as Murphey would have it, we were delayed a day again and they moved my reservation again! Would absolutely stay here again!

Hidden Gem

This campground is run by the city visitors center and like most other things in Mountain City has very little social media presence. Most residents of the city don’t even know of its existence.

Great little affordable campground with nice accessible trout stream. Has 30 amp and 50 amp service along with tent camping. (Tent camping is currently closed due to recent bear sightings as are the toilet facilities due to COVID-19(Aug 2020))

Aug 2020 prices for 30 amp full hookups $25 /day $85 /week $300 /month
