For being on a road trip and needing a quick place to stay, this campground fits the bill. Reservation is easy and it’s easy to get to. The camp site is loose gravel which makes it difficult to stake a tent in if necessary. For my personal preference it’s a little crowded and there were a lot of RVs. The smell of propane and the sound of music is not my ideal. I understand though. It was suitable for a good night’s sleep and felt safe.
I know there are walk-in sites in this location too so if I come again that will be my choice.
The staff keep the location very tidy. My campsite was sufficiently distant from the more active RV area to feel removed. Situated in the woods on top of a mountain. There’s a great lookout location with seating and showers and WiFi. Close to downtown Asheville.
