Perfect Hidden Spot

Stayed in site 15. About 30 yards off Lake Huron. Sandy with a good amount of shade, level spots. Nicely kept bathrooms. Fire ring and picnic table at each. You can hear some car traffic every now and then. Great beach to walk along.

Excellent spot!

So much fun! Easy to explore the Leelanau District of Sleeping Bear from here. Bike path runs through and easy boardwalk to a picture perfect Lake Michigan beach. All types of rustic spots. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Fire rings and picnic table at each.

Fine for a night

Trail camp but no horses the night I was there. Lots of open space, spots aren’t really numbered. A couple nice hike/bike trails spur off the campground. Lots of traffic in the area through the night (ORV and mudding trucks). Bathrooms are nice. Only a few water front spots.

Secluded and well kept

Great small state forest campground. Several lake front spots. All level with picnic table and fire ring. Vault tables available. Boat launch for the lake which is the result of a dam. Lots of waterfowl.

Gorgeous views and perfect rustic space

Great rustic campground on the far west side of the state park. One loop is generator free which was wonderful. Easy to get other places in the park. Water pump and vault toilets. Sites are large and level with grass or packed sand and have a picnic table and fire ring. Dumpsters available for trash.

Great getaway and lots of space!

Great state forest campground. $15 per night can’t be beat. Sites are great for tents and RVs but no electricity. Hand pump wells for drinking water and vault toilets that are well kept. About 40 spots. All with picnic table and fire ring. Some are closer to the lake than others but good trails to get to the lake. Lake is perfect for swimming.

Great spot on Superior!

I was in spot N which is one of their rustic tent spots right on Lake Superior. $25/night which was very reasonable. My site had a nice, level and sandy spot for the tent. All spots have a picnic table and fire ring. The people who run it were very nice, they have a small general store for food items, other small sundries and firewood. The bathroom facilities are maybe 150 yards away, not a bad walk. You can hear some road traffic, only drawback. Great landing spot to do all that Pictured Rocks has to offer if you don’t want to backpack.

Secluded and Nice

Great state forest campground. Eight sites with six right on the river. Room for two vehicles per site. Level for tents and plenty of good trees for hammocks. Right next to a canoe/kayak launch. Hand pump for water. Separate men and women outhouses. Road is a bit loud during the night but not too bad.

Great for families and socializing

This campground is great for families and people in groups. Book far in advancs though. A ton of spots and well maintained amenities (bathrooms, beach area, small general store). Closed during the winter. The large beach area is not dog friendly but at the north end there is a dog designated area for lake access. The lake itself is nice (one of the shallowest in the area), great for boating (motorized and non). There isn’t any hiking in the state park. You’re close enough to town for other activities.
