We stayed for the Newport folk fest in 2021 and although expensive because you have to stay four days it was worth it. Steve saved us honestly because we had no reservation here. By chance they had a cancellation. He also gave us ice and firewood as we were stressed after the ordeal of realizing no way we’ll find a place with no reservation last minute! We had one at another place that neglected to say on website RV only. No showers or toilets!! We were two girls camping and needed a good safe place. This was it! Clean Bathrooms with music piped in. Love this place to pieces.
We have been to happy days campground twice now. Last summer and this summer and again was not disappointed! Although a small rustic campground it is beautiful and shady. Also quiet even at night after seeing dead and co at the performing art center. We stayed here both times while attending a concert at Bethel performing arts. The camp store is small but sufficient for your basic needs. The only issue we had were that the showers are not private enough. The doors allow for someone to pop their head over from the outside which unfortunately happened during our stay. My kids were too afraid to shower in there after that.. Otherwise I’d give 5 stars
We had a long weeknd celebration to attend at the start of the summer. We love camping so we thought this is perfect save some money and camp. We ended up at Shady knoll and we absolutely loved it. We had stayed at another campsite last year nearby. Not even close to this one in term of everything listed below. One of my favorite things about this campsite were the bathrooms! They were so clean and comfortable. Nice toilets. Really it matters!Showering rooms were separate. Beautiful shaded campsites with privacy you just can’t beat it when you’re a minute or two from the beach! The little camp store was fully stocked and our kids loved it. Such friendly people!! We spent a lot of time at Paynes Creek -the sunsets!!! Also a favorite the rail trail which was fabulous. We will absolutely be back
We needed some serious forest bathing and spontaneously decided to head to the green mountains. We were looking for a basic camp ground that would have hook ups. While searching online we learned that Vermont state parks do not have hook ups. We are a family of five with a pop up pull behind and the Glamping lifestyle is a little bit easier on us these days . This was a very simple basic campground but the best part was that it was very quiet and cool despite the highest temps VT had seen and a long time . It had well-maintained grounds and some cute activities for the younger kids. Even blueberry picking on site. The owners Ben and Elizabeth were super. We had a couple of issues with our pop-up camper which could’ve easily sent us back to CT crying but Ben along with another friendly neighbor helped us without hesitation. This made our two night stay fantastic. we visited and hiked Mt Ascutney and did some fun stuff at Okemo but highlight was finding then awesome swimming hole at Buttermere falls next to Okemo
