Good spot while just entering winter park. Does the trick for a night before biking at trestle or other winter park plans, but there’s not too much going on here. A bunch of side of the road pull off spots, most don’t rock fire rings or anything.
Ps, this road forks soon after entering and you can go left to the other pin there is marked near this location, or right for this spot, they’re all about the same type of spots though.
Went over Labor Day weekend, and was still able to find a great spot. The road can be a bit rough in spots and would definitely recommend 4x4, but a very peaceful location. There’s not sweeping rocky mountain views or anything, but a great forest feeling and the sounds of the river will put you to sleep.
This road passes through a neighborhood for a moment, which made me consider if I was going to the right place, but you are, keep going!
I found a great spot with a wonderful view, fire pit, and spaces to park just off the road. I was having a great time until some folks near me had their shooting targets set up, and were missing shots, and flying into the trees and zipping by less than 20 yards from me. I understand this is public land and totally allowed, but keep the folks around you in mind. It was an unnerving experience to have bullets zipping past the camp site for hours while trying to relax outdoors, and ultimately led me to leaving early.
