We had a blast on the dunes at Silver Lake. You can get an off road vehicle tag there. We took the Jeep but there were people there in all sorts of off-road capable vehicles. It is a nice way to get an adrenaline rush and beautiful views of the lake all at once.
This is a great spot to spend time with the family and visit others. It is definitely crowded and has lots of little ones running around, so I wouldn't suggest it for a quiet get away. But the pool is nice and there are lots of things going on to entertain the kids. The staff is nice and if you forget something you need not worry- there is a store at the campground. It is also located near Saint Joseph, MI where there are plenty of things to do. There are many wineries and u-pick fruit farms nearby.
We most enjoyed Lake Andrusia with canoeing and paddle boarding. In addition to the lake there is a well maintained swimming pool and lodge. There are hiking trails around to explore. Great family spot!
This is a great place to camp with young children, as there are many activities around the camp. It is family owned and operated and you can tell- warm and friendly. If you want to explore, there are six Lake Michigan beaches within 15 minutes, and it's located between South Haven, MI and Saint Joseph, MI.
The campground is generally very full, so I would consider it a good place to get together with others, not a place to go if you need to get away from it all. We enjoyed the canoeing. The bathhouses could use some attention, but are definitely not the worst! We did have cell reception while staying there. There are playgrounds available to take your children to play on.
Grand Haven is very busy, so you shouldn't be expecting a quiet retreat when you visit. But the beaches are beautiful and kept clean. It is nice to walk the pier to the lighthouse and there's plenty of shops and restaurants to explore nearby. This area is known for their Coast Guard presence and musical fountain that operates in the summer.
Beautiful trails with a variety of challenge levels. Many great sights to see and very well maintained. We loved the bridge across the river. We visited during the weekend and it was not overcrowded. The did not get any cell service or internet while there, so be aware if that's important to you!
