Fall Camping

Visited the campground 10/21/16-10/23/16. With it being this late in the season to camp, the grounds were free. There were no services, so you need to bring your own water, and pack out your trash. Pit toilets, decently clean, definitely smelly. We camped on site 20 and 21, right on the river. It was a great spot!

Camping on the Peninsula

I booked this campground online. It's on the closer end to Seattle, without traffic it takes about 2.5 hours to get to. We originally booked campsite #40 Loop B, a group site, but didn't like it. Since the grounds were not full, the camp host said we could take any site with no reservation sign on it, so we took site #42 Loop B and loved it! It was more secluded and still close to the restrooms. The restrooms were clean and even hand hand soap and paper towels! We walked by the yurts, will definitely have to book those next time!

Camping near Leavonworth

Was in need of a campsite Labor Day weekend. As you know, once you do the research, you realize most campgrounds around here are a first come basis. After driving 40 minutes down Icicle Road, and all campgrounds having a "Campground full", Blackpine was our last resort. We talked to a volunteer ranger, and he said tent camping is allowed, but if a trailer with horses show up and want your spot, you have to give it to them. He also said, that's never happened in over 20 years, but that's the rule.

I think it was $15 for a night, plus $8 extra for 2 cars. Campground were spacious, had decent pit toilets, drinking water, and a pretty quiet spot. Not too many sites, but since this campground is so far down Icicle Rd, it doesn't seem to fill up too fast.

Camping near Crater Lake

You can book this campground ahead of time with recreation.gov. I wanted to book at Crater Lake, but because the national park only has 2 campgrounds inside the park, I ended up booking at Diamond Lake, which was only 20 minutes away!

Loved our campsite. We booked site H021, which was close to restrooms, a water spiget, and a short walk to the water. The amenities were clean! The only problem we had were bees at our site when cooking, but besides that I'd come back!
