Friendly area

Very nice state park. Well managed. Clean. Fishing was fair for walleye, bass. Hiking was abundant. Easy in and out. Could use cable along with water, sewer, electric, hook ups.

Wildlife abounds

Spacious & private camp sites.

Old growth forest. Trees so big around you can’t get your hands to touch.

Yakima river

I chose a site that backed up to the river, the back of the motorhome was close to cantilevering over the river. August is a tough time to be there with 90degree weather and lack of shade. Mornings were nice with coffee sitting out watching the high paced river go by. They had a store that we were able to score huckleberry ice cream that was to die for. We ventured off on foot to the local town for breakfast. Folks were very friendly, they were not concerned about COVID all the visitors wore masks but not the locals. We will have to visit here again but not in August.

Rustic

This site was haven sent. Large spacious, on the Clearwater river. Fishing was great. Solitude was the best. 10 days was our stay at $10 per night, no hook ups. Boondocking or dry camping was the tone. The vault toilets were clean enough for the ladies not to mind the situation. Laying in the river, hiking, wildlife viewing, was great.

Spacious

Very popular area, I did get a site with full hookups. 95 degrees for two days of a 5 day stay. Riffe lake is just one of the attractions. The rivers were what I was interested in for fishing. The first time I saw red huckleberries. I was skeptical that these berries grew at 700’ elevation but once I found out that is what they were I gathered a few more. Not enough for pancakes but delightful.

Spacious

Old growth forests abound, camp sites were spacious and private. Fishing is available from two rivers the Cooper and the Cle-Elum both within walking distance from the site. I decided to go car camping last week in my SUV. The site I found was large enough for 3 cars, like mine, I chose a pass through that I did not really need, but was great for me. Parked the car on the flat asphalt siding and unloaded. Yes everything had to come out, my bed was underneath it all. I Picked up firewood at the general store in the last town prior to arriving. Weather was great during my stay. Everybody I ran into along the road was friendly. I had a very pleasant time reading a novel for the first time in a long time.

Cooper Lake WA.

Very remote woodsy area around the lake. Pristine waters, state fish stocked lake, bring drinking water. The lake does not have a road going around it, but the fire roads do have trail heads for backpacking. There is camping on the other side of the lake only excess by boat. Well I guess a helicopter would work. There are horse camps at the end of the fire road with a cul-de-sac to turn around and head back out. Lots of boon-dockers off the forest roads. A boat launch is available but motors are not allowed on the lake.

Marine life

Ocean views, waves, fun time, fishing.

The best

Old growth trees, large private RV sites, hook ups electric/water, gorgeous blue sky’s, fresh water lakes and ocean beyond, critters abound, hiking a little tough coming back up from the bridge.

Cozy

Bathrooms were very clean flush toilets, handicap accessible, camp sites were open and packed in. Our window looked into neighbors window. Fun was had walking on the beach at hood canal.
