We have a “big rig” 40’ 5th wheel with 4 slide outs. Called them same day from Capital Region Welcome Ctr in NY, about 3 hrs away (below Albany). They had a full hook up, pull-thru corner space for us. Offered parking for our truck right across lane on separate site. Super nice owners! Went over COVID questions and after hour check-in instructions. We came in just after it got dark. Loved town of Shelburne. Awesome little shops and great, well stocked little local grocery store. Authentic Italian restaurant in grocery store parking lot…picked up delicious strombolis. Due to COVID, mostly call ahead/pick-up or drive thru for many things…incl. delicious coffee in town at Village Wine & Coffee and AWESOME cider donuts at Shelburne Orchards! Only a 20 min drive into downtown Burlington. Took narrated tour on Ethan Allen ferry on Lake Champlain. Shopped in artsy town. Extended our stay for TWO extra nights. Will def come back. Didn’t need to use, but noted that bathrooms were immaculately clean.
Found this campground last minute on way down road. We have a 40' 5th wheel (big rig) with 4 slide outs. Would have prob been in a Walmart parking lot, IF the mngr, Karen, wasn't so AWESOME!!! I called after hours to Sun RV Resorts corporate office. They got ahold of this great campground mngr, who called me back within a hour or so, while we were still on I-95. She happily agreed to let us head on in well after dark at almost 10pm. Came over, from her nearby home, to welcome us at gate with a super friendly, upbeat smile and a gift kit for our pup. Made us feel so WELCOME! Led us, via her car, to our open, pull-thru spot & said coffee would be on at 8am. She was so accommodating to our needs & multiple schedule changes. We wound up staying another night. She was like a cheerleader for us to have a great time. THANK YOU SO MUCH KAREN…you're the best! She made our experience here what it was…terrific! It must be noted, that this is an extremely large, full, town-like campground, packed full of mostly permanent seasonals, or full time occupant spaces. I do imagine that at high season, it is prob an absolute zoo, with noise & kids everywhere. We were there in late October (during COVID), so very quiet. Located in nice area, directly across road from beach on Nantucket Sound.
We found this campground at last minute when heading into ME from NH, with no res. They could easily accommodate our 40’ 5th wheel w/ 4 slide outs. Fortunate find. Great location…5 mins to Freeport, 45 mins to Portland. Owners (young couple) are very friendly & helpful. Gwen is just great, very kind & always answers phone or txts. They are expanding & renovating whole campground from what they started with…went from only 9 spaces to 36. Several pull-thrus. Perfectly treed…cleared just enough, but still feels very natural. Fire pits are awesome. Building big new office building at entrance area. Really nice, new playset. In-ground pool looked nice, but we were there in chilly fall weather. Wound up staying 3 nights. Hated to leave. Lovely spot. Going back. Can’t wait to see what else they do to fulfill their vision.
