No prior reservations taken here, but easily found a spot on a Thursday afternoon in late August. Good privacy between sites, trees everywhere. Water was available and seemed to be just fine.
Primitive site, so fire ring, picnic table, vault toilets, trash cans provided. Also a nice day use area boat dock right on Lake Kabetogama with plenty of parking for your boat trailer.
This campground is super pretty, great location close to many things to explore, and I love that you can hear the waves of the lake at night. Unfortunately, the sites are very close to each other, and not much privacy between them or from the road. All of this makes the campground fairly loud, from sites around you and people walking past down the road.
You can see some lights from cars on the highway but if it wasn’t for that you would think you were in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful location between Mexican Hat and the San Juan River. dispersed camping so no amenities, and please clean up after yourself.
The sites had good privacy due to the trees, and I managed to set the tent up at the way back of the site, so you couldn't see it from the road. The pit toilet was pretty clean and there were even hand sanitizer bottles outside for use. The well water available had a bit of an off smell and came out a little more yellow/brown than I prefer so I did not use it.
