Great place

This was the closest place with camping near Longview. We have looked at it before, but plans feel through. We got a camping spot Mothers day weekend. It was wonderful. Hosts are great and its well kept. Had access to a outdoor kitchen and awesome bathrooms. We fell in love with the place. Will try and book the school house for our anniversary. Many unique places to stay..

Good camping area

At least 14 sites with picnic tables on concrete slabs. Fire rings and Lantern poles. Very well kept and mowed. There is a loafing barn for horses. No bathrooms or water. Would be a 5 with just water. You need a Texas parks Limited use permit. It costs as little as $12 a year. If you want to fish or hunt the price goes up a little. Can be used to stay at any National Forest or Wild Management area.

Disappointed

Well we called and called to make reservations but no answer or call back. Noticed the visitors center we closed on Tuesdays, but there ding said the front gate entry was open till 6pm Sunday through Thursday so figured a Tuesday would be safe to find the spot. Got there and the gates are locked, no self pay because it's on the other side of the gate. I guess they are completely closed down on tuesdays. Very disappointed. Have a meeting in Houston in the morning. Had to get a hotel.

Hunters camp
It's a Primitive camping area for Hunters during hunting season. There are no water or electrical hook-ups, but they do have two port-o-potties.
It's free for public use, but we like coming to National Forest camp sites so we got a limited use permit to help with maintenance costs.
We were here the last day of hunting season and watched a deer being processed.
 Nice quiet place to overnight.
Nice peaceful place

We love coming here. Primitive camping in the national Forest. Water is 11 foot up. Great place to get away.

Vacation and Wife's Birthday camping

We always have a good time. We had a shelter site, but also set up a tent. Reservations online were quick and easy, and when we arrived our site was ready for us. The Host soon came around and gave us our passes. It was cool and a little rainy. But we had fun fishing. Thanks for everything.
