The road into the hole is a sketchy single lane with large ruts. A high clearance vehicle is a must. We pulled a 28 ft Travel trailer down in early June. The place was not crowded at all. We probably should not have done that, We got lucky that we did not meet anyone on the road.
This is a good basecamp for exploring the North Cascades. We visit Maple Pass, Blue Lake, Cutthroat Lake and other hikes nearby. The campsite is near Wenatchee so it is a bit of a drive to trails but the town and park make a great basecamp for a longer stay.
I love this spot. The hike up Steamboat Rock and the kayaking on Banks lake is amazing.
The campground is well appointed and clean. I have been there twice and am planning to go again.
Nice new and clean restrooms. Close to hiking trails and lake.
You can hike, bike, beach walk, see historic sites in the park and the greater area. This park makes a great base camp for exploring the area. I will be back.
