This is a really easy spot to get to. It’s just north of Quartzite but had a much better vibe and quality of camper. Great sunsets We went on thanksgiving weekend and we had no problem finding a spot. Still pretty crowded but we were a decent distance from other campers. Quiet at night.
23ft rv
Beginning of april
The camping area is small. There was one can there when we arrived on Friday , early in the day. By 5 pm there were several vehicles. Another rv parked about 30 ft away and a van pulled in at night and was about 15 ft behind us. The area is very pretty. Great mountains etc.
bit if garbage around which always bums. Me out. Spent shell casings.
It’s ok in a pinch for sure and I could see it being good mid week when maybe nobody is around.
This is a great spot. Now I might be a bit biased because it’s only 1 and 1/3 from my house but this spot is underrated.
It’s super clean. No trash etc. the Mojave preserve parks do a great job. If you go to the day use area it’s also clean and well kept as well as just really a nice area. Great hike to the crater. They filmed “ Journey ToThe Center Of The Earth “ there. There aren’t a lot of spots to camp but because nobody comes here very much it’s always pretty simple to find a little spot. It’s a great weekender/ short get away spot. There is a train that runs by but it’s not loud. It’s far enough away that the train sound is actually soothing at night and I think ads to the charm. Yes, can be windy but also can be perfect. The stargazing is amazing and it will be busy here if there is a stargazing event
Spaces are very close together. The camp store was closed and the camp host was a little strange. I know that can be the case often but I didn’t want to have Covid vivid conspiracy conversations. Not a spot I would have a desire TK go back to
Did a quick motorcycle camp here. The campground was extremely well maintained. Clean bathrooms with showers etc. depending on the time of the year and the winds there can be an unpleasant smell but I didn’t have any problems on this trip Site are pretty close together but it didn’t seem to be very crowded most of the time
This is a seemingly in remarkable spot but we really like it. It’s close to home for us but on a nice day it’s very pretty and the volcano is cool to hike to. The day use parking lot has bathrooms. Not a lot of spots to camp but it’s also not a crowded spot unless there is a stargazing event. It’s close to Roy’s for a fun little touristy stop. The camping area is the overflow parking lot.
We had a 23 ft rv Decent cell service
February 10 Rv 23 ft
Sawtooth canyon is a really cool spot. Great rocks and mountains surround you. It is also called new Jack city by the rock climbing community There are only about 20 spots here and it is popular. We arrived at 10:30 on a Friday night and it was only 35 degrees out and we still got the very last spot. So be aware of when you’re going and what time you will want to show up. There are some spots that are a good distance from other folks and some spots that are right next to each other. It’s clean and a very pretty spot. We got two bars with att and were able to stream tv shows decently. Had a few distributions. Can be quite windy at times. I camped here on my motorcycle in late spring and it was pretty windy.
We loved this place. We followed directions. TheQueens road portion.
We are in 23 fr rv and took main road in. There is a split off between queens and palm canyon. Palm canyon any vehicle can do. Queens you won’t take an rv in. You’ll want high clearance for sure .. that said , just coming in main road there are lots of great spots. Clean, quiet and great views of mountains Had three bars cell with ATT Busy spot so come early
January Rv 23 fr Cell. Att. 3 bars
This is a great spot that is easy to get to. You can see lots of lights from a refinery or factory of some sort but it didn’t really distract. The 10 fwy is only a few miles away and you can see it but if you are facing the mountains it feels more remote. Take the road further in. Most rv’s or big rigs can get pretty close to the mountain before the road becomes too tough. There are several roads that cut into the camping area from the main highway so you do t have to take the one that the directions here send you to. We were able to stream tv with good cell reception on att. I went on my dirt bike for the r into the mountains Very cool spot.
January Rv 24 ft Cell service. Att 2 and o 3 bars. Able to stream
This is a beautiful spot. The spots are a little close together.
Not good for dogs really cus of cholla cactus everywhere. Watch where you walk and be sire to check shoes before entering your home for the night.
There is an outdoor shooting range close enough to Hear semi auto’s all day and as late as 10:45 pm. They were at it again at 8 am. Not sure if it is some military training area or what. That gets a bit old. It’s a good distance away so it’s not real loud, just present Road is good to drive big rv or 5th wheel no lroblem
January visit
Rv 23ft
Easy to find.
Good cell service
Overall it’s a decent spot with a few issues. Several of the spots were trash dumps. We were able to find other spots that were clean though. Spots are just off the road so you’re not real far away from the other campers but we really didn’t hear a thing from anyone. That said , there is a military base close by and jets fly over a few times a day and are real loud. We didn’t mind this but some people may. We also had a couple of helicopters dj a low pass one evening.
The mountains around the area are very pretty.
This spot is not real remote so you are close to the freeway and will hear some trucks occasionally.
There are signs warning of illegal immigrants and that but we didn’t see or hear of any issues.
Update to this review. We didn’t go as far down the road due to some standing water etc. however , go further down the road to find the better spots that are more remote. Most rvs and big rigs can make it really far down this road There is a few private property signs. Go past those TK the next set of camp sites.
This is a really nice area with lots of available spots . Decent number of campers for a rainy Monday in mid January but still plenty of spots open. Not super remote. Had two bars of ATT service was able to stream movies. We were about 75 yards from the next camper which was a little close and I think that’s gonna be the norm at this location.
