Great for a few nights

This place is really nice. Super clean bathrooms and flat platforms for tent camping. It’s a little pricey in my opinion but it’s easy to get to and close to lots of climbing.

Lovely little campground

This place is great. I always stay here for weekends when I got down to the river. The price is great, it has decent service and showers! A must after a day at the river.

The videos I supplied are just down the road and a trail at the river. The main attraction of this campsite.

Pretty quiet backpacking campground

I stayed here on a Sunday night so it was super quiet and I only passed two people on the trail. The campground is right by the water so it’s really pretty and refreshing. A perfect site for an easy backpacking trip.

Online it says something like “prettiest campground in WV” idk if that’s true but it is really nice. It is directly on the trail though so it certainly could be annoying on a busy weekend or something.

Fun and tasty!

Arrowhead bike farm is a great place to camp. It’s not super private so if that’s what your looking for then definitely don’t come here. But it is a great place. They have a big field for you to set up tents on along with RV camping areas and a place with individual sites in the back. It’s also a bike shop and restaurant. They have goats and miles of bike trails. Their tacos are to die for and the staff is super friendly. I stay here every time I go to the New, almost entirely for the tacos.

Super close proximity to some fantastic climbing and the entire new river gorge national park. Fayetteville is an awesome little town. I love staying here

Not nice

We tried to camp here one night on a trip along 70 and we got there pretty late so we were driving around trying to orient ourselves and essentially found that there were no spots. We were trying to turn around and get out but it’s like a maze in there. Which is not a diss on this campground. That is totally fine. Just made it more difficult. As we were on our way out a car started following us and we were really confused. We came to a dead end and he pulled up to us and asked what we were doing and said there were no sites available. He also told us that they don’t have tent sites which was not clear to us but we sleep in the car so it actually doesn’t matter. He was really rude. So we left to find another campground.

Beautiful private campground

This place was beautiful. We drove all the way around the lake to find our perfect private spot and we basically had the whole road to ourself. There were all these little inlets into the water and you can sit out on them and it’s really pretty.

It was the middle of summer so it was extremely hot. We slept in the car and it got so hot that we had to turn the car on and run the ac a couple of times throughout the night. It was also crazy buggy. The window had a blanket of bugs. Gross. Nice breeze though before we went to bed.

There’s pit toilets but no running water. The water in the lake was pretty but quite gross but I imagine very nice for fishing. My dog pulled out some pieces of garbage.

Crowded

It’s first come first serve and it fills up quickly. We got there after dark and checked out every spot before deciding to just camp at the trail head because every spot was full. The spots are SUPER secluded though which was awesome and easy to find. Very well labeled. There were also lots of pretty wildflowers when we were there. Also I had full bars of service and was able to look up where we were going the next day and communicate with my friend.

Comfy tent camping

For $10 a night this place isn’t bad. They have pit toilets or porta potties practically every 20 feet, but in a good way. There’s a flat area to put a tent at every site and a table. Minimal but pleasant. Some of the sites are really secluded, we stayed at one way up a road but there’s also a bunch right next to eachother along the main road and some side roads too. Lots of options. It’s first come first serve.

Muddy but free

This campground was really the epítome of BLM land. It was just a big dirt patch. It got suuuuuuper muddy overnight which was unpleasant to get off our shoes in the morning. And it was quite small really only space for a few cars. But for free camping area near rifle mountain park it’ll certainly do for a weekend climbing trip. Tent camping wouldn’t be very fun here. Kinda creepy and muddy. We slept in my car

Great campsite a little pricey

We camped here during a climbing trip to rifle and it was absolutely stunning. Campgrounds are right by the water. They’re not very private, but that’s expected for a state park camping area. Some of them are paved, others are gravel. All camping areas have Colin operated showers and bathrooms and each campsite has a covered bench, fire pit, and some have a water pump right on site. I think it was something like $20 a night which I think is a bit much but there are lots of nice amenities.

It was hot during the day. The lake smelled kinda gross and was super muddy so we didn’t swim in it but it was really pretty and would be awesome to not and fish at. And at night it cooled down to a super comfortable temperature like 60° or something. It was lovely.
