Stayed at campsite #9 in Chase Point Campground and had good tree coverage and space from other campers with potable water right next to the site. We hiked backcountry the following day to BC #1 and it was a moderate hike with a descent view atop a hill looking out at Pine Lake. The site was beautiful with big pines and a shelter. Highly recommended!
We stayed at drive-in 49 and loved it! Private trail directly to the showers, restrooms and water. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. 49 is close to the Gitchi Gami trail so that was also nice considering we were rollerblading. Highly recommended campground and park!
A buddy and myself camped here for a night at drive-in 62 and it was spacious but with close proximity to other campers. There are new bathrooms and showers being developed at the current moment so there was one Biffy for the whole campsite and made it kind of difficult for. I am sure there were better campsites but from what we saw and experienced it wasn't the best.
We stayed here for almost a week and were able to explore all the waterfalls in the area and the UP in general. P.S. it is really close to Kitch-Iti-Kipi! Go see these phenomenon; it is special. This campground has everything you need and is a good central location if you want to set it as your base.
We stayed at campsite #14 and it was by far one of the better camp spots. We are planning on going again; it was so much fun to explore the lake shore and island. Highly recommended!
We camped in the cart-in area and it was a blast! It was our first time doing the cart-in and was slightly hard, but you have to commit to this if you reserve. The trek into the campground was manageable and the area was very scenic. Going back to camp at the drive-in campground next!
This campground had a good amount of space in between campsites and amenities that suited our needs. Beautiful park especially with the river and Devil's Kettle. Visiting again soon!
Just got back from Itasca State Park and I am very impressed. Stayed at the Pine Ridge campground in the Poplar Circle. This area is more private than the camp circles before and less populated usually. Restroom area was up to date and very clean. Camp sites were nice and clean as well. The next three nights we went backcountry camping to BC #2, 3 and 9 and were very impressed. BC sites 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 we all passed on our trek and all were spacious, beautiful and clean. Highly recommended and will be coming back soon with my kayak, rollerblades and bike!
