Nice and expanding

It is a nice family campground that is expanding their footprint. The lots are level and offer plenty of room to spread out. The bath houses are outdated but do the job. There are several hiking trails on the property that go to some amazing views. There is also a waterfall and small lake that is nice. We went over Labor Day weekend, which I know is bad. They were completely booked and it was very crowded. But if you were at your campsite you really didn’t notice except for the noise. This campground is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway so there are an abundance of things to do close by.

Different way to camp

The state park is quite large. The campground is in the back near the marina but it is still nice and quiet. There is a small camp store that has ice and very few other things. The campground is clean and well maintained. The sites are what is completely different than any campground I have ever been too. They are wooden platforms that you drive on. They are pretty large and some larger than others depending on the site. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN PICKING YOUR SITE!!!! I didn’t pay much attention to the incline that it said my site had. When we gat there it was a very steep incline. I was only pulling a pop up but by looking at the platform I wasn’t the only one that had trouble getting into this site. After trying several different directions and bottoming out every time I just decided to unhook and push the camper into place. That was fun too. Once everything was in place it was a nice site. Our second afternoon there we had a pretty big thunderstorm that lasted into the night. Normally everything would be muddy and dirty from the storm but the wood platform was nice. Didn’t even mind letting the dogs out. There are sites along the water that I would recommend for the view. We got one on the inside loop as it was a last minute trip. All in all not a bad campground and a new camping experience.

Camping Cabins

This was the second time staying at this campground. We used the camping cabins. The campground is nice. It has many things to do like a pool, cornhole, horseshoes. The cabins are ok. They have three beds. One double and a set of bunk beds. They have ac as well. They are small but do the job. The mattresses suck.

Great location

This campground is in a great location. It sits on the same grounds as a rafting company and an outdoor bar/pub called The Bus. You can travel about 15 minutes and you are in Cleveland just north of Chattanooga.

Huge sites with waterfront and wooded

Great size sites. Many with waterfront property and others totally wooded. Shower house had amazing water pressure. Very clean and quite considering that all 154 sites were full. Campground has its own boat dock and plenty of parking around it. The only negatives I would say would be is that there are only two bath houses so you will almost have to drive to them. There are several restrooms scattered around the grounds. There is absolutely no cell coverage for any carrier at the campground and about a 30 minute drive in any direction. Also no stores around as well. There is only one gas station within 30-45 minutes that have ice and firewood. Make sure to bring everything you need.

Large campground with many amenities

It is a pretty big campground. The bath house was really nice. The sites are pretty close together. It has a store on site but it wasn’t open. The visitors center was closed as well. There are quite a lot of things to do in the area.

Nice basic campground

The sites are decent size. It can be a bit of a walk to the bathroom. It does have a restaurant and small store on site. Can spend a large portion of the day hike to the cave and other little trails. If you are coming from the south you will have to take the ferry across the river. Sometimes there is a pretty good wait.

Great family campground

Campground has all the amenities you could want. It has a small lake on property to fish or swim. Has a pretty good market for the things you might have forgot. They have firewood and ice to purchase. The campsites are good size. Playground on site for the kids. Shower house was clean but not very big.

Great campground on the lake

Nice quiet campground. Most lots are 50% shaded and only a few not on the water. Shower house is clean and attendants are very nice.

Nasty!!

The campsites right on top of each other. The restrooms are nasty and do not have doors on the stalls. Only stay here if you don’t care about anything other than being in the woods.

Family friendly

Sites are wooded and spaced far enough apart that you barely see or hear neighbors. Has plenty of things to do for everyone. Has store on site. It is however quite sways from town. There is no Cell Reception at the campground but they have WiFi. The WiFi can only be accessed from a few places.

Very few amenities

Very rustic campground. Has water and electric hookups. All of the sites are grass or dirt pads. The bath house is a far distance away from the sites and it is shared with the rafting company’s customers. Has a restaurant and bar on site.

Clean and friendly

The campground was clean and the people working were very friendly. The sites are very close together so there is not much room to move around or have pets outside. The rates are higher than I would like to pay but you more amenities for the price.
