After months of trying to get reservations for this popular campground, we finally got one for Thanksgiving weekend! The park is on their winter schedule so only sites 1-7 and 226-248 were open. It made for a nice, quiet weekend even though the open sites were 80% full. We had a pull-through site right across from the dumpster, bathrooms, and camp host. We had decent service for Verizon. There are ample trails throughout the park including a lovely trail along the lake, which is not far from the campground. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because our site had a huge mud puddle from the road going to the power and water hook-up. The thin layer of mud on the pavement made things quite slick as I was trying to get leveling blocks down.

There is so much to do here and every time I've been to Ft. Stevens, we just scratch the surface.  We were down here in August as the last stop on our family vacation and we discovered a whole section of the park we didn't know was there!  This time, it was just me and my kiddo.  We came down for a rally put on by a PNW based group of the brand trailer I own.  The majority of the group was in loops O and N, though there were some of us (myself included) in other parts of the campground.  I ended up in loop M, which has full hook-ups so that was nice.  This was my first rally and it was my first big solo trip with just me and my kiddo.  The sites in loop M do seem sort of close together depending on where you are in the loop.  There are also a lot of trees, which could contribute to that feeling.  My back-in site, M04, was partially secluded with a row of shrubs between M04 and M05 and some shrubs and trees behind me.  I could see the road and the yurt village from my back window.  There is also a paved trail that goes along side the road.  If you go down into loop O, there is little trail that takes you over to the south parking area of Coffenbury Lake where you can pick up the 2 mile dirt trail around the lake.  FYI…no matter how fancy your fancy all terrain running stroller might be, it won't work on this trail.  Never fear though, there are plenty of paved bike trails that will get you throughout the park!  The only reason I am giving 4 starts instead of 5 is because I have a toddler that likes playgrounds.  The only playground is in the north campground.  It wasn't a long walk, but there were no paved trails which put us in the bike lane of the main road going into and out of the campground.  When it is busy, there are a lot of big vehicles going in and out.  It would have been nice to have a playground in the south campground or have a continuation of the paved path next to the road.  Verizon phone service is meh.  I had no issues calling or texting my husband, anything else was spotty as I had one or two bars.  While I don't go camping to scroll about on the internet, I do have a toddler that has a much earlier bedtime than me so it's nice to be able to catch up on social media or put in some earbuds and watch a movie on my phone or watch youtube.  Couldn't do any of that.

This was our last stop on vacation. We couldn't get into Fort Stevens SP right across the street because it was full so we thought we'd give the KOA a try. We normally avoid KOAs, but this one was NICE! We had a premium gravel back-in site. The premium means full hook-ups, fire pit with some bench seating, picnic table, and a propane grill. Our row happened to back up to some trees and tent sites that were in a kind of gully below us. The first night, we had neighbors on either side of us, the second night nobody showed up. We were thankful for that as these sites are pretty close together. This is by far, the largest campground I've ever stayed at. There was a whole fun zone that had mini golf and a bouncy mat thing, outdoor pool and other things that we didn't even see because it was in another part of the campground. Our main purpose on this vacation was to visit Fort Stevens State Park and go into Astoria for lunch. I did manage to get in a quick swim in the indoor pool (you read that right--there are 2 pools). For such an active campground, I was pleasantly surprised at how everyone settled down by the start of quiet hours at 10pm, at least in our part of the campground. I wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of some of the amenities, but it just wasn't in the cards this time.

Another huge Oregon state park campground. We were in loop H, which is the farthest loop from the entrance. These sites were closer together than the previous state park campground were we stayed, but our site was still fairly private with shrubs on one side and trees on the other. We arrived about 10 minutes after the 4pm check-in time, which was a first for us, and there was a short line to register. People also had to wait for us to back into our spot, but nobody was rude or anything. As this park is inside the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area, it was a point of entry for people to take their ORVs out and run around on the dunes. I was a bit worried that the sounds of motors revving and racing about wasn't going to stop, but it did. The last noise I heard was probably around 9pm. This park is very family oriented and kid friendly. We took our toddler to the playground, which she loved, but there were a lot of bigger kids there who were not being supervised so it was a little bit hectic. We finally had to leave to avoid our child getting bowled over by some elementary age boys who were not respecting or paying attention to other people's space. There was another family with a little guy too who left the playground shortly before us. I realize that the campground/state park can't control what ages of kids play at this playground and all kids are welcome to play there. Just be aware if you have toddler age littles, there is no separate area for smaller kids and not everyone supervises their children. This was a very nice campground and if you are a person who has ORVs, this would definitely be a great destination.

This campground is huge! We were in F loop, which is the last loop of the campground and our site was a partial hook-up site on the outside edge so we had a nice view of fields behind us. It was pretty much full sun though and the weekend (Fri-Sun) we were there it was HOT! On Friday when we arrived it was in the upper 90s with pretty high humidity. We pretty much ran our a/c non-stop. Saturday was overcast so we had a bit of a reprieve from the sun, it was still in the mid to upper 80s though. It was a nice walk to the paved trail and there were dirt trails off of that to get down to the river. Even though we had our a/c on at night, I could still hear the peaceful sound of crickets and other night time noises and I found the park to be fairly quiet even though it is right along I-5. There was a ton of space between our site and the sites on either side of us.

This is our second time staying at Armitage. We usually only stay one night as we are passing through Eugene, but it's a fantastic campground and we would love to stay longer sometime. Site 30 was especially lovely. It is a full hook-up site surrounded by shrubs and trees. There is ample space between sites and we could not even see the site on our right. The pads are paved and pretty level, plenty long and wide for our 32ft 5th wheel and truck. Hopefully next time, we can stay longer and actually explore the park.

I live 5 miles from this park and am here all the time, just not for camping. I came for one night to do a shakeout in my new to me trailer. My husband came to be my second set of eyes as I set up camp and to entertain our kiddo while I made dinner. Then we drove him home since he had to work in the morning. Several reviews complain about the airplane noise overhead, but I live in Federal Way and cargo planes from JBLM often fly over my house so some commercial airlines don't bother me one bit. I was in a pull-through full hook-up site. I did not hook up the sewer hose however because the lid was broken and I would have had to find a large rock to hold my elbow in place. All in all, it's a nice campground and was quiet. I didn't even hear the cars on road.

Mossyrock Park is one of 4 day use/campground parks run by Tacoma Power. This one sits on the southwest side of Riffe Lake just above the Mossyrock Dam. It's a really lovely park. Lots of open space, playground, disc golf, dog park, beach area, concession stand, boat ramp, and several camping loops. The campground varied greatly in types of spaces and could accommodate tents up to fairly large RVs. We had a space in the Main campground that had 30 amp and water. The spot was paved with a picnic table and fire ring with a BBQ grate and a view of the lake through the trees. It was not very level though. We have an older 5th wheel that doesn't have a fancy auto leveling system so it took quite a bit of time to get everything level side to side and front to back. At one point, we had to hook back up to our truck to raise the front landing gear and add some blocks because we couldn't get the trailer low enough in the front. The spot really was nice though with plenty of space between spots. I do think we lucked out though because this was not the case in some of the other loops. Their spaces were a bit closer together. All in all, we did enjoy our time there. Our kiddo really liked the playground and getting ice cream at the concession stand after dinner. This park is family, dog, and fishing friendly. Many folks brought their boats right along with their trailers. We would camp here again sometime.

After an 8 year hiatus from camping, we decided to get back into the swing of things. We picked Kanaskat-Palmer SP because it's close enough to where we live that someone could run home if anything major was forgotten, but far enough to feel like a weekend get-away. It's also about 8 miles from a Safeway if you forget butter and olive oil like I did.

The campground is nice and clean. It's 2 loops, a mix of pull-through and back in sites, the second loop has electric. There are also quite a few yurts if you don't have a tent or rv. Bathrooms are in the middle. We did not use the bathrooms.

We have a 32 ft 5th wheel and were in spot 1 (pull-through), right next to the entrance. I was dreading this since it was Easter weekend and the campground was full, but it was surprisingly quiet! We had a very enjoyable 1st weekend back to camping. We definitely want to come back!
