Nice park for a stopover visit

Very small Pull through sites (with very sharp turns). No good hiking trails. Seems great for boating or fishing, though. Good location for visiting Corpus.

Great State Park for Hiking/Biking

We stayed in spot 112 in February 2024.

  • Sites are very nice, wide, and (mostly) level.
  • Campground is kept clean.
  • Bathroom is a bit outdated, but still clean.
  • Trails are very nice and appear top be kept up regularly.  Just watch out for the alligators.
  • Don't forget to reserve a spot at the observatory on Saturday nights…
Great little park (no sewer)

This park is a great place to visit. Really nice trails. Great staff. Spots are really nice, but mostly very short. Our 28' trailer took up most of the space. But, I was able to fit my truck sideways at the end of the driveway.

Excellent Park for Weekend Camping Trips

We have been to this park twice.  Once as our very first trip with our travel trailer (Site 24), and once again this year (Site 13).  This park is really nice for hiking, biking, or just relaxing.

Great trails for all exercise levels.  Lots of places to stop and rest, or just sit and take in nature for a while.

Just be careful, if Google GPS tries to take you to the back gate… :)  It's a tiny road, and a dead end.

Pretty Cool Spot for a Weekend Camping Trip

We spent a weekend here with the in-laws, in site 51.  It had been raining a lot, so things were pretty muddy, but all in all it was a pretty nice park.

Lots of trails to explore, and a few geocaches.  If you like boating or fishing, this park would be great for you.

Site 51 was pretty secluded and level.

Awesome Small State Park (The First Ever in Texas)

We've been to Mother Neff a few times.  It is a great little park.  A few years ago, they rebuilt almost everything, and it has been amazing every since.  I do wish they would eventually reopen the original front entrance, and that area, though.

We have stayed in sites 19 and 20, both of which are nicely secluded.  Most of the sites are not crammed together, but we like these two the best.

The trails are great for any exercise level, and there always seems to be something new to see while hiking.

This is one of our favorite state parks.

Very Nice Small State Park

There may not be a lot of trails, but they are very nice.  The sites are oddly level, even though they do not look like they would be.

Site 01 is a great spot, that feels about the most secluded.

Watch out for all the spider webs on the trails,  if you hike early in the morning…  We camped at Meridian State Park in a 28 foot Travel Trailer.

Excellent park - great for weekends or full-time

We spent a nice weekend getaway here. Definitely glad we did, as this is exactly the type of place we want to find for when we decide to go for full-time#RVLife. Pros: Very nice pool, great for laps and lounging Nice hot tub(though it was too hot to try it out) Bluetooth speaker by pool Nice little gym with weights(dumbbells and machine), bike, and treadmill. There is a nice laundromat, with about ten stackable machines. Our spot(#13) was perfectly level. It looked like all of the other spots were, as well. They have a cute little store in the office(it's only open during office hours, though). They have two bath houses, wth very nice, large showers. We did not get to check them out, but they also have some hotel style cabins. The water pressure was really good. They offer free wifi. It could do with a stronger signal, but was better than most parks we camp at. The driveways are nice and wide, to accomodate larger rigs. The main entrance is super easy to access from Hwy 21(there is a light, and a nice turn lane). There is another side entrance on Grist Mill Rd. Might be too small for pulling a trailer, but it was great for coming and going in the tow vehicle. There is a food truck by the pool(right now it is only cajun/seafood, though). There is a cafe, that should be open soon. That will be a huge bonus. It was suprisingly quiet, even though we were right off of Hwy 21. Great prices for full-timers Cons: The place was great, and we had to look for cons. It would be nice to have more walkways up to the buildings, so you don't have to walk around the landscaping. It would be nice to have a different foodtruck(we don't eat seafood, so it wasn't somethig we could try out). It would be nice if the store had longer open hours.
