Heavily wooded sites that are not well maintained. Very narrow roads in the campground with lots of pot holes. Not the easiest state park to pull a travel trailer in. Sites were very narrow.
Where else can you camp and get deer on one hand, and ocean fishing in the other! We loved it! Stop at Gay Shrimp Co. on your way in for fresh shrimp to cook at your sight. We camped feet from the ocean. Talk about relaxing!
My family loves High Falls! I would recommend booking in advance and get a riverside spot. It’s worth it. Tons of hiking trails, kayak rentals, fishing, etc. Great camping just south of Atlanta
I wouldn’t really suggest this location for a camping trip. It’s better to drive for the day and see the canyon, then head home. The campground is wide open and no privacy. Very clean with a centralized bath house. The main road for the park runs right next to the campground with no trees or barriers. The canyon however is worth the trip and beautiful.
We did the primitive site for an overnight hike in. We loved it! Definitely need your map to get through the lower canyon area. When they say follow the creek, they mean walk In it until you find the path. Don’t venture out at night, came across some angry hogs!
Nothing fancy. Good clean campground with some lakeside camp sites. One of our most visited due to the location from our home. Usually packed!
Great campground and really taken care of. Been several times with my family and our pop-up camper. We did have a bear encounter on our site, but that was due to not properly storing food during the night. Lesson learned! Took a good bite into my 5-day cooler! 😂
