We stayed here one night because we couldnโt get reservations for three nights at Sylvan Lake Campground. It had very nice and clean private bathrooms with showers and WiFi included. Our little popup was dwarfed by many of the larger RVs and there was very little space between sites. Nice location and close to lots of tourist attractions. Will be even nicer when the construction is finished and the pool is complete.
This campground had beautiful sites with enough space between them to feel like you have a little privacy. We even saw some friendly marmots climbing up the rocks the first day. Close proximity to Sylvan Lake which includes swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and stunning rock formations. Also close to the Needles Highway. We took day trips to Mount Rushmore and Bear Country, where my kids got it feed baby bear cubs. You will be off the grid with no cell service up there so plan accordingly. Bathrooms were nice enough and showers were included but lacked hot water. Overall, a great camping experience!
Pros: SO many activities for the kids - water park, ceramic painting, paddle boats, indoor play area, lots of playgrounds, picnic areas for family gatherings, zip lines, horseback riding. Also nice to have bathhouse with shower and flush toilets. Convenient location right off the highway and 5 mins from the Air and Space Museum.
Cons: SO many bugs. Make sure you bring lots of bug spray. RV sites are pretty close together and are very small. Our site only had electric hookups - no water. It was crazy hot and humid when we stayed there at the end of June.
FYI - If you want to stay in a cabin, they tend to book a year in advance.
Beautiful place to camp with electric hookups. My kids loved playing at the playground and exploring the nearby national monument of Florissant Fossil Beds. Was very chilly at night when we went in June.
If youโre looking to get into the wilderness and away from civilization for awhile, this place is not for you. If you want a place close to the highway and easy access to the beautiful attractions of Colorado Springs and/or Denver, then this is a great place. Itโs noisy at night because of the trains and highway but my kids LOVED the activities they offered like the pancake breakfast, pool, hayride, Yogi Bear, and a kid โescape roomโ. A different kind of camping than weโre used to, but it was a great spot for our first trip with the pop up camper.
