Gorgeous!!!

Very secluded, deep wood camping. About an hour on unpaved road until you get to the actual camp but the drive is gorgeous! Old growth and new baby trees line the roads and there’s about 10+ little streams along the way. The bugs weren’t too bad with citronella bracelets and candles but bring bug spray if you like. There’s river access and lots of trails to explore. There’s even horse trails and a huge horse stall area for a group site/horse trailer.

We drove past 3 piles of bear scat along the dirt road into the campground, which was fine. Our dog growled into the woods a couple of times while on some nature walk which was a little worrisome but with the right tools, actions and preventative things we were fine.

Lake Wenatchee

It’s Lake Wenatchee + camping. No more review needed.

Why not see Wynoochee?

About 3hrs away from Seattle, Wynoochee is a “why not?” Adventure.

“Have you camped at Wynoochee?” “no.” “WHY NOT!?” Ha. Corny “Dad Jokes” aside, this place is actually awesome. A dam, a lake, and a yurt. It sounds like the beginning of a bad joke but it’s anything but. Okay, I’m sorry. I know I said jokes aside, but seriously. You can tent camp if you want, yurt camp, and more. Definitely a to-do worthy.

Long road, worth the trek

This place is so far but so worth it! We drove 63 miles and more, but the juice was worth the squeeze. A very cozy and quiet campground, the place is down the road and to the right. Nestled deep in the woods, you might find Bigfoot. Seriously.

That was a close one.

We had a great time here, enjoying the views, the river, the walking trails and even surrounding gems. Our campsite (6) was great. Tent space is 30 ft away from kitchen space, which is fine. I will note that in our site, our kitchen/fire pit space was probably only 10’ away from our neighbors to the left. One might want to book both sites if you’re not in the mood for a potluck lunch.

Aside from the close living spaces, this campground was fun. Close to the river, close enough to the road if you’re wanting a more paved path to explore.

The Camp Ranger was so cool. She was very friendly, hospitable, super knowledgeable, and even went out of her way to bring us back some firewood. I wish I had written her name down, but I’m sure we’ll meet again if she’s still there.

Cute, clean, close

Cute, sometimes crowded camping. Lots of beautiful scenery like surrounding trees, plants, wild-life, the river, and surrounding adventure opportunities, always. Trails and pathways throughout the campgrounds. Very friendly and knowledgeable campground staff. The Dalles is definitely a go-to. Great for group camping or even day-use. Fairly close to civilization, if you forget that extra bag of marshmallows, you won’t have to drive too far to pick-up supplies. Tons of nearby activities, too.

Picturesque, serene & secluded.

After 22 bumpy miles on NF-23, you’ll eventually come upon a truly hidden gem. Under a 4 hr drive out of Seattle, Takhlakh is worth the drive, every time. A campground nestled in dense forest with a perfect view of Mt.Adam’s in the background, you’d think this place were an early 2000’s PC screensaver. You’ve got fishing, swimming, nature-walks, hiking, or just sitting by the campfire. Takhlakh has truly something for everyone.
