Had a fantastic time here. It’s about a 2 mile hike to the campsite. We had about 12 other campers there. Hour hike to see firefly event. Creek runs by campsite for fresh water. Bear cables for food, did see a bear about 1 mile away. Recommend!
Had a great time backpacking the upper loop trail. First time backpacking and this was an easy beginners trip. Not much in terms if falls for upper loop but the campsites have decent distance between and two out houses. Lots of ticks on us and the dogs with bug spray so be aware. Easy beach to fill water for filtration from creek behind campsite 2.
It was a good view, also pretty RV heavy, but tent friendly. Grassy area, fire pit, stone table. The facilities are outdated and don't feel super clean. Easy to reserve and convenient. Because of the lake there are tons of mosquitos, plan accordingly! There was also a little skunk walking around this morning.
I actually didn't end up camping here because it looked like a rock site. I maybe saw two tents, everyone else in big RV's. If you are doing tent camping I would look elsewhere. I might've missed an area that was more tent friendly but I didn't see it. I would do primitive with a tent probably.
Great campsite and location! Had a great weekend at Bandy creek, the area is fantastic. Campsites are close to trail entrance and if you head out toward Oneida you can hit up Angel falls. Has showers, water, didn’t even need an electrical site the cleaned it daily and people are respectful. Great view of the stars at night! I will be back.
Headed here after garden of the gods was full. This place is very close to where you need to be. Outpost in between sells food, firewood, ice etc. Very basic campsite for drive up. People were very respectful, very dog friendly. Great places around to hike.
