When we stayed here they were on fire watch, so obviously that was not a possibility. The sites are well maintained and basic services are available. Get a site with shade and you’re good to go, very close to Morro Bay as well.

The sites are tight, it most are in the area to be out exploring all day. Many services, but the showers were down while we were there and no fire due to the area being in a State Park. Ultimately this felt like dispersed camping due to many services being out.

Aside from the hot showers and flushing toilets, this isn’t anything more than a hybrid RV park and campground. The sites are often booked during the summer, but the weather and many things to do in the area make it worth the stay.

This was a perfectly placed campground near the McCloud Falls, which are definitely recommended if you stay at the campground. Also, go to Clear Waters coffee and the adventure business next door, we had a great lunch and coffee at the cafe before heading north.

We came thru at a time that little OHV traffic was in the area, but it clearly gets busy at this site. Hosts were excellent and helpful, and there is a wonderful trail nearby for bikes. Not being a fan of OHV noise, I would recommend some of the dispersed camping in the area for those that go to nature to avoid the noise of their neighbors.

Other than the OHV noise from some day users, this was a great campsite on our way down from Crater Lake. The site host was MIA, but we were setup for dispersed and it was early in the usable season for the area. Great for families, mountain biking, and fishing off the Rogue River.

After reading another review from a backpacker we decided to dispersed camp near the Castle Lake Campground. The campsites themselves are nice with and offer fire rings, but there are few sites to use. The Lake is a trailhead for an amazing hike that is quite popular, so expect some traffic. The view is top notch of both Castle Lake and Mt Shasta
