Everything about this campground is fantastic. The lake surrounds the point, the sites are cleverly designed, the October crowd is quiet and friendly, it's near Branson, strong Verizon signal.
This beautiful campground in classic Ozark hardwoods is a haven for things with motors. Bikes, ATVs, gold carts, all manners of off-road thingies, and the louder the better. At the same time, it was clean, folks were respectful, and it was quiet after dark. Enough Verizon signal to get Facebook. Some sites have electricity.
This is a large gravel area with a restroom and one campsite. It's very pretty and easy to access and very quiet. And free! The Verizon cell signal is weak to non-existent but you don't have to drive very far to get a signal. It's a fabulous location near Miracle Hot Springs and Hagerman.
Very pretty and open for camping, but without services, when I visited in April. There is a sweet hike that starts right at the bridge. It's right on the road, which could be busy in the summer. Not much for Verizon cell signal.
Pretty, small area with a boat launch. No services were open in April, but parking was available and free. There is enough Verizon cell signal to text, but not to stream.
Visiting in April on a Sunday to do day use has defined my idea of heavenly. The snow-covered peaks, the clean air, the sounds of the spring birds, and the silence are magical. The hot tubs are small, but it really doesn't matter if no one is there. They are pool noodle friendly when it's not high occupancy. The Verizon signal is strong. Day use is open until 5:00 p.m. and next door there's a lodge that has even more hot springs that I'm going to have to visit sometime. The setting is pretty incredible with views all around of lovely Eastern Oregon mountains and valley. Spring green is abundant and it is an enchanting time. Very cute tent campsites, as well as a variety of lodging. This place is wonderful.
By far the nicest of the campsites up Poole Power Plant
Road. Lovely setting. No cell signal. Closed in October.
First of three campgrounds on Poole Power Plant Road and the least nice of them. Not open in October. Weak Verizon cell signal. Close to yosemite, which makes it invaluable.
Aspen Grove Campground is in a pine and aspen forest on a lovely creek. Campsites are separated by trees and have a table, fire pit, and bear box. No potable water. Porta Potties. Near the east entrance of Yosemite, which makes it a good option for camping with day trips to Tuolumne Meadows since Yosemite doesn't have much for boondocking. Still open in October. Not much for a Verizon cell signal.
A fantastic campground overall. If you go up to the higher sites, you get a great view. Huge trees with mountain views. Well maintained. Closes on October 15th, which makes it a late site for this region. No cell signal whatsoever.
The campground is nice as described. Verizon gets some cell signal. The real glory is in the McGee of Creek trail at the end of the road. It's only a couple of miles away and is fantastic, easy hiking. The October foliage was amazing.
This campground looks right up at the glorious South Sierra in the scenic Owens Valley, thus the five star rating. The sites are nicely spaced and the place is kind of funky overall. Pretty good Verizon cell signal. Choose your site carefully. Some have water dripping on trees and there were many wasps around them (16,18). Site 12 is primo. The campers at the sites near the entrance were noisy but it was much quieter on the east end. Incredible sunrise lighting up the Sierra.
This campsite sits below one of the most magical places, the Ancient Bristlecone Forest. On the way up, there is an awesome vista where you can watch the sunrise in the South Sierra. There is a good Verizon cell signal there and an even better one at the pullout just past the vista point. Both are flat and have good parking. There's endless dispersed camping on the road.
Wheeler peak campground sits at the base of a most glorious vista with access to gorgeous, easy hikes. The campground was closed in October but there's plenty of flat trailhead parking and a toilet. No water but there is a creek. No cell signal on Verizon. The aspens were gloriously yellow, especially in the dawn and dusk.
This cute, convenient campground is right outside downtown Twin Falls, giving access to everything you need. The tent sites are close to the road and the RV sites are close together. The laundry room is open 24/7 and it's super cheap. The shower water is good and hot. Verizon signal is pretty good. Super sweet staff. For the $29 I spent, I got my money's worth.
Sweet little campground. Mostly close together, family oriented sites. Early September there was still plenty of water in the reservoir and they were still renting kayaks and boats, which was appreciated given the glorious weather. Moderate Verizon cell signal. Enough to text and receive and send email. Laid-back and friendly place.
Lovely, well -described campground. Intermittent Verizon cell signal adequate for texting and reading/sending email, but buy more than that. It's near Pine Hollow, which won't be dry like this one, which is lovely regardless. Many Forest Service roads nearby of you want to boondocks and then day use at Rock Creek. Also not far from the lovely Central Oregon towns of Maupin and Dufur.
Deeply forested, gorgeous, well spaced sites, located up an easy road, nearest cell signal is about 4 toward Carson.
Bonanza Gulch dispersed area has two sites, one on each side of the bridge. These are the most scenic spots for seeing the mountains, having wide open camp, and some amazing rock formation views. The drive to this campsite is a mind blower. Excellent quality gravel road, crazy rock formations, pretty trees and crystal clear and accessible creek. The road and campsites are all very clean. With the exception of the Jarbidge Wild and Scenic River launch site, there are very few camping pullouts until you get past the town of Jarbidge when there are many. There are many camping options in this area and all are free. No potable water in this area. No cell signal at all anywhere near. The nearest reliable cell signal to the east is 35 miles east of Murphy Hot Springs, which is closed with no opening in sight. Not many people or much traffic. The Jarbidge Wilderness looks amazing.
