This is a small park with only about five sites with hookups. I took a chance and scored a site. The lake was great to swim in, there were lots of picnic tables. There are bathrooms and a shower.
The camp sites are well laid out with picnic table. The bath room was primitive and I didn’t check out the showers. The lake and the area is enchanting!! It was my first visit to New Mexico and for sure I will be back! The lake is large and has fishing.
I just picked this campground off the map. It seemed like a long drive in flat wilderness to reach it south of the I 40. The campsite was charming, very quiet. The showers were nice. The campsites had a fire pit covered table and picnic bench. The camp host kindly gave me a gas cylinder when mine didn’t work. -$14 excellent value - in California similar is $45 a night!
This is a family run business. They were very friendly and accommodating. The cavern tour is $20 but we’ll worth it. -Pleasant coolness after a long hot drive. The tour guide was knowledgeable. I didn’t really visit the gift shop but it looked interesting. For sure worth a visit if you are in the area!
