Beautiful park

The park was beautiful & clean. Huge trees. The walk to the bathroom was a little far but the bathroom was new. The park rangers patrolled constantly. We were in Armadillo Run loop. It was Beautiful but traffic from the highway was pretty loud. We brought kayaks and drove to a nearby boat ramp to put in. (Outside the park, called Crip’s camp) From what I had read online, it should have been fairly easy to find a paddling trail but it was much harder and very, VERY easy to get lost. After talking to a few people who paddle their quite often, I have a plan for our next trip. ***The water at the state park does not really connect to Caddo Lake. It can be fairly misleading. Definitely do your research. The lake is HUGE and you can easily get lost.

Nice park on the river

Now Called Nueces River RV & Cabin resort. We were here Easter Weekend 2021. Lots of families here for the holiday. We have an 18 foot travel trailer so they put us down near the river. There were mostly tents on that area but there were partial hook ups. Our spot was Beautiful with a perfect view of the hills and the river. 2 basket courts, driving range, sand volleyball, see saws, swings….a slight walk down to a nice rocky river area. The Nueces is very clear. We brought paddle boards but it was quite a walk down to the river (if I was carrying a board). We could have probably driven down the road a bit to the dam and gotten in there but it was a little too cold on the weekend we were there. The main RV area was up near the front in a more typical “RV park” set up in rows. The bathhouse had about 6 individual bathrooms. It would probably be plenty big for a normal weekend but was very small and busy for a holiday weekend. ****BYOfire pit!!

Alligators!
We loved this place! Our campsite was on Burr Oak loop. Very spacious. Quite a walk to the bathroom though. Very clean bathrooms.

The trails are awesome! So glad we had our bikes, it allowed us to cover a lot of ground. We did see over 10 alligators. Some on the side of the trail, some in the water….I lost count of how many we saw. Great for hikes. Awesome for bikes.

Unique hipcamp spot.

This place was interesting. It was very pretty. I think We were in site 3 - we had a great view overlooking the river. Spots are squeezed in a small place but at varying angles so you aren’t lined up. The water was very low when we went. We hiked quite a bit up and down the river but it all looks fairly the same. The single bathroom and shower is in a horse trailer. It’s very clean and cute and unique. I think they have plans to add another bathroom - that would be very helpful. If the river was high enough to kayak or paddle board, I’m sure I would love this place. With the river as low as it was, there wasn’t a whole lot to do for our family. The hosts were wonderful and I love the idea of Boulderdash…..with more water in the river and another bathroom, this place would be amazing.

Loved it

I was nervous to stay here because I had read horrible reviews on the bathrooms and I’d had to book an “inside loop” so I was nervous about how much room we would have. Wow!! I shouldn’t have worried. We had a huge green space with plenty of room to play and move around. I bathrooms are totally fine. I even saw someone cleaning during the day while we were there And Of course, the Frio is fantastic. It’s pretty hard to get a spot but so worth it!

Great river access

My sister in law made these reservations and I was a little bit skeptical because of the “parking lot” pics online. I was nervous that it would feel like a huge parking lot. But, I was Pleasantly surprised! They allowed us pull thru spots side by side so we had green space between us and our doors opened towards each other. We were able to have a campfire as long as we had a tight fitting lid. The best part was the river access. It was beautiful! The river access is Overlooking a canyon wall, with ducks and deer roaming and a huge yard of grass all the way down to the waters edge. White lights illuminate it at night. The water was slow moving so we paddle boarded upstream about a mile. We had the river almost to ourselves in mid September. I enjoyed the large boulders down near the river area. Perfect spot to sit with my coffee in the morning. It was GREAT. They do have cabins to rent and also a small building that was hosting a family reunion.

On the Guadalupe

Nice campground with lots of River Access. Beautiful little area with small rapids called Devil’s playgroup is fantastic. Lots of RV and tent sites on the water. Small store for snacks and water. Bathrooms are fine - you need tokens to shower.

Nice lodge and bathrooms

The setting is beautiful in the Texas Hill country. The lodge and pool are fantastic. There is also Gaga ball, a basketball court, a play ground, game room and ping pong. Activities in the lodge for kids. The bathrooms were very nice. I was a little disappointed with the river. It was quite a walk to the river and it was very very low. Other than that, everything was great….I’m just a river girl and wished for more. The RV spots are small and close together. We had to put our table behind our small travel trailer because there was not any room next to us.
