One of the best

This site will always be one of my favorites. Camped there a few years ago in 2014 around Easter. Went back again this year (2016) around March. Definitely that time of the year is the best. There is still snow on the higher peaks and snow showers hit the site as well, but it is around 50 degrees during the day, which is what I call perfect hiking weather. Also, the sites aren't as busy around this time. Other than the day before Easter, the other time I spent there was only with a handful of other campers. I haven't spent any time there in the summer because of the crowds. The sites have beautiful views, and the toilets are kept clean. Cannot wait to go back!

Pricey, but enjoyable

This is definitely a beautiful park, with awesome campsites. Went in June 2016, while it was just getting too hot for hiking. The unfortunate part is the $20 fee a day for getting into the park and camping. I've camped at cooler spots for free, but I guess that's the price you pay for the water and toilets. The amenities weren't as clean as most, but it's not a pit toilet, so the smell wasn't as bad as usual. The main campground that is open all year has ample spots for people. The spot I chose was right between two boulders, so I was tucked away from everyone else. Also this helped shade the spot in the morning as the sun came up, so I didn't bake in the morning sun. This is also the best time to go because there are not very many people camping because of the heat. Cool spot, definitely planning to go back.

Cool location, hard to get to

The location of this campground is pretty interesting. The low point is that it's hard to get to, especially for most of the year. The first time attempting to get to it in April 2016 was met with a closed road sign. While it isn't a difficult walk, it's a long one to get there. in July 2016 another attempt was made. The road is rough going up, but was done with front wheel drive car easily. Definitely not made for lower cars. The campground itself is very small, so they're taken up easily. If you are unable to camp in the paid lots there are more free lots down at the bottom of the hill.
