Coming from 95 the right side has long more private pull ins but it’s very hard to turn around, narrow, and very sketchy if you have low clearance vehicles. The left side is flat, easy to get in and out but is very crowded and not private at all. There was probably about 25 rvs, cars, and other rigs to the left. We drove pretty far back on the right side (as far as our car would get us) but ended up turning around and sleeping in the very first spot next to the road.
Free camp ground. Very private. Decent sized space to park for 2-3 vehicles. Trails, plenty of dry wood, away from the roads, no running water or electricity, decent amount of spaces we came in at night and counted about 9 very far spread out camp sights. Good ground to pitch a tent to. There was other camp grounds bigger than the one we stayed at and had several people at them with a big bonfire going but what’s great is when we found our spot we couldn’t see their fire or even hear them! One thing to note is that some of the camp sites are tucked back into the trees a little and can be hard to spot. At night we thought one was open but there was actually someone there and just couldn’t see them from the road so we had to back out and go to the next site (sorry whoever that was lol). It is also a ways off the beaten path for through car camping but honestly if we were ever coming back through this way I would make the hour detour to stop here again!
Very clean area with restrooms. There is very limited spaces that are pretty close together. There actually wasn’t any camp grounds open when we got there but we were so exhausted from the drive and it was 4am so we parking at the trail head and got a 3 hour nap in. I walked a bit of the trail that morning and used the bathrooms. Perfect little spot if you don’t mind people and want a dispersed spot. Not running water or electricity. Att service was ok
This little gem was perfect. There is a couple different spots to post up in. Plenty of room for a tent, there was a couple of people there and it was very quite and peaceful. Fire rings, picnic tables, and a bathroom even if it was not the nicest. The trail to the camp site is pretty narrow though so big rigs would probably have a hard time. It was very creepy driving into the camp ground at night not being able to really see anything but it was perfect! So glad there was a nice spot open for us! We slept in the car because we got there so late but we enjoyed a nice walk before heading off that morning.
ALSO!!!! There is a small town not to far from here with a small coffee place called coffee on the corner. The couple that runs it is absolutely amazing and definitely worth checking out!
Good signal Att, bathrooms, easy to get to, beautiful sun rise spot, and quite.
At first I was a little sketched out because we got there at 3 am and it was pretty crowded but we were way to sleepy to keep going. The sun rise was amazing!!! Perfect pit stop for sleepy drivers on an adventure.
For the bad things. Well what some people might say is bad, it’s a bit off of the main road that we were going, seems close to houses, and has no running water.
No bathrooms, no water, free, multiple spots, good signal (Att), easy to get to even with my car, quite, tucked away from the road, peaceful, 10/10 star views, aannnndddd most importantly especially in late October WATCH OUT FOR THE DEER!!!!!
It was a little confusing when we first pulled in. You could go three different directions and wasn’t exactly sure where the camp sites were at first but we found a nice pull in with a fire ring and there was about 7 people hanging around in rvs.
We were going to stay at the sunset reef camp across the street but they were totally full. So we went to the Dyrt for help. Found this on across the street. The signs were a little confusing for where to camp exactly but we found a nice spot to set up. The highway noise is pretty loud but when it gets late it’s not so bad. You have great views no bathroom, and clean. We are traveling on a budget road trip and this is just what we were looking for to call it a night!
My husband and I are on a very long road trip. Last night around 3:30 am we were getting extremely tired and needed to make a stop for some sleep. All of the rest areas were completely full, the normal camp sites were not able to be booked and so we pulled up the Dyrt for a last minute free spot. The area was not hard to find, the stars are breathtaking, it was nice and very quite. I didn’t see much trash at all ether! It is simply a great place to stop for the night. We woke up to a very nice sun rise of wind turbines and a lake with duckies! Simply amazing.
