New outhouse built within the last year. There's no water right now but that could change after first rain or snow.
Stayed here last week & it's still great.
Great campground with multiple sites. Fire pits & along Bear Creek (seasonal). Can be reached from Tom Sloan Saddle or Switzer Falls Trailhead.
Great, secluded campground that's only accessible via hiking. I was backpacking along the Pacific Crest Trail & decided to hike down the Crab Flats Trail to checkout Tent Peg & Fisherman's Campground.
Toilets, fire pits, bucket for water, bear proof trash cans, plenty of room for a dozen or more & easy stream access with fish!
The trail to Fishermans is extremely overgrown but besides that fine & easy to navigate.
I camped here a couple wks ago & it was great. You feel deep in the forest & there are plenty of spots, fire pits & flat top stoves.
The toilets were boarded up but Winter Creek was flowing well.
I hiked about 8 miles from Eaton Canyon Park via Jones Peak & the Mount Whitney Connector Trail to Upper Winter Creek.
You can get here multiple ways but once you do it's totally worth it. Secluded campground with toilets, fire pits & many info plaques with photos from the old tavern on site. There's a stream nearby the Mount Lowe Summit Trail, also. Plenty of great sites to choose from.
great views 360 degrees once you're on top. a 7 mile hike north on the Pacific Crest Trail from mill creek fire station. fire rings with multiple spots
I stayed here for 3 nights while section hiking the Pacific crest trail & everyone I came into contact that worked at reds meadoow was extremely helpful and polite. there's a restaurant (diner food) that's open 8am - 6pm (check hours) & also a general store that sells all your camping needs. there was also a free shuttle from Reds Meadows to mammoth mountain ski lodge where you can catch a bus into Mammoth lakes.
campground has multiple concrete buildings with toilets & running water as well as bear boxes & fire pits. also a steam depending on time of season.
I hiked in while doing the Pacific crest trail from the south. great campground with bear lockers and many sites, also nearby spots along the pct. a short walk from little jimmy spring, where you can get water to filter. also a short hike from mount baden Powell, mount Williamson & mount islip.
Beautiful campgrounds with access to sandy beaches from your tenting spots. access to the Pacific crest trail & many other hiking routes.
lots of car campers & RVs in a dirt parking lot with access to the river but camping not allowed off thre parking lot. many families and a busy area.
